I Didn’t Need To See That
This week on the pod, we’re kicking off something special for you all. Journey with us into he theater of the surreal and absurd as we begin what will be a trio of films by the director, surrealist, mystic and overall weird dude, Alejandro Jodorowsky as we watched his 1989 psychological horror film; Santa Sangre. Being this is our first foray into the works of Jordorowsky, we dip our toes in with what we felt was his more grounded and approachable film of the 3 to come; which makes sense being the only one of the 3 films that was only co-written by Jordorowky himself. Join us as we marvel at the many visual spectacles this films has to offer, from he circus performances, live theater sequences, to a literal funeral procession for an elephant, this film is anything but dull. It tickles the senses and dazzles the eye, albeit sometimes with too much success to remember what’s happening in the film. But hey, fun to look at is still what we’re here for! Plus, discussions on just why this movie garnered and NC-17 rating exactly, well deserved penis violence, and Pete and Aaron discuss the new trend for the summer! 3 guesses what it is.
