Dr. Evan Dellon is the Director of the UNC Center for Esphageal Diseases and Swallowing. He talks about one of the fastest growing digestive diseases in the U.S. EoE affects an estimated 1 in 700 people. It's symptoms include difficulty swallowing, food getting stuck, and pain when eating. EoE can disrupt daily life, create anxiety around meals, and lead to food impaction. More information about EoE is available from the American Gastroenterological Association [https://gastro.org/] and the American Partnership for Eosinophilic Disorders [https://apfed.org/events/world-eoe-day/].
