Becoming Better Communicators Together with Shari Foos

I’m so excited to be talking to marriage and family therapist & creator of The Narrative Method, Shari Foos. You’ll hear some refreshing communication tips, from how to be a sincere apologist, to being an open and active listener in this episode. The Narrative Method is an organization that enables humans to form connections based on storytelling. Shari shares some of the core concepts from the program that allow us to become closer to people and be more receptive to different opinions, beliefs, and values. This talk will challenge your way of thinking and hopefully bring you some gratitude on a Monday.  Find me on Instagram: @ingloriousrbgpodcast @robynbrookeee And Shari and The Narrative Method: @thenarrativemethod, https://www.thenarrativemethod.org/

It's Not You, It's My Anxiety ft. Brittany Perlin

Grab your mugs, we're spilling the anxie-tea on today's episode. I had the pleasure of speaking with The High Functioning Podcast's very own, Brittany Perlin, for an in-depth discussion on anxiety, seasonal affective disorder, or SAD, and panic disorder. Brittany explains how her diagnoses have contributed to her life in both negative and positive ways, and some of the main ways she tries to support herself when she feels the anxiety mosquito biting (this is a Big Mouth reference, which I wrongly call the anxiety monster on the episode). This leads us into a discussion on codependency. I share about a temporary, but tougher time in undergrad when I was diagnosed with panic disorder. We end the episode discussing dating a person with anxiety and the importance of knowing what you need when you could benefit from emotional support, and asking your partner how you can show up for them.
