Regenerative Agriculture in Southeast Kansas

On this episode of the K-State Regen Ag Podcast, we spoke with Dr. Gretchen Sassenrath and K-State ag extension agents James Coover and Lonnie Mengarelli. Dr. Sassenrath is a retired crop production agronomist who was based at K-State's Southeast Research and Extension Center in Parsons, KS. James Coover is the crop production agent for the Wildcat Extension District, which covers Crawford, Labette, Montgomery, and Wilson Counties. Lonnie Mengarelli is the Agriculture & Natural Resources Agent for the Southwind Extension District, which covers Allen, Bourbon, Neosho, and Woodson Counties. We discussed the unique growing environment of Southeast Kansas, what research has shown about the efficacy of regenerative practices in the region, and how local extension agents are working with farmers to help best incorporate regenerative practices into their cropping systems. https://www.agronomy.k-state.edu/about/people/faculty/sassenrath-gretchen/ https://www.wildcatdistrict.k-state.edu/ https://www.southwind.k-state.edu/ https://www.kstateregenag.org/ Intro Music - Jenny's Theme by Jason Shaw sourced from freemusicarchive.org, CC by 3.0 US Outro Music - Home on the Range, recorded by Tom Munch, sourced with permission from the artist https://tommunch.com/
