Mike is one of the most recognizable and trusted faces in the Miami Valley. During his 40-year career, Mike has served his community as producer, assignment editor, videographer, and reporter with WHIO-TV, covering some of the biggest stories in Dayton, across Ohio, and around the nation. His work has earned regional Emmy Awards, honors from the Society of Professional Journalists, and an induction into the Dayton Area Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2022. During our conversation we discuss the day to day as a crime reporter for Dayton, OH, the changing media landscape, how legal reporting impacts the justice system, infamous stories from around the Miami Valley including the Oregon District shooting in 2019, the 1999 disappearance of Erica Baker, and more.
