Life with Taiwo The Podcast
Season 2 starts with the realest version of me. In this episode, I open up about a decision that might be hard for some people to understand — after 24 years in the United States, I don’t see myself ever returning to Nigeria. This isn’t coming from a place of hate, but from lived experience. I talk about the realities I grew up around, as well as the realities of the average Nigerian - including corruption, living conditions, classism, and more. I also dive into something more personal — childhood trauma, and the lasting impact it had on my nervous system. For a long time, I stayed busy, but I’ve recently taken a step back to reset, reflect, and take care of my mental health. This episode is about truth, healing, and perspective. I speak on gratitude — for the opportunity to be in a different environment, and for the people who made that possible. At the same time, I’m learning to take my energy back from people, places, and situations that no longer serve me. More than anything, this is me stepping into who I truly am — unapologetically. This feels like the first time I’m fully showing up as myself. Welcome to Season 2.
