Acerca de Little Adventures, Big Life

Where I saw weeds, she saw flowers…and everything changed after that. Instead of trying to live one big adventure, we have learned to see weeds as flowers, rocks as mountains, and rivers as the wild sea. We learned to have little adventures to have a big life! On this podcast we discuss our adventures and experiences from the mundane to the extraordinary, and everything in between. Join us on this adventure, make our adventures your own, and even share your own experiences with us. Sometimes serious, usually not…

We can talk about it...Anxiety

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2510283/fan_mail/new] This special episode of Little Adventures, Big Life begins a new kind of conversation—one that’s a little more serious, but just as important. In this first installment, we explore anxiety from both a parent and child perspective, creating space for honesty, curiosity, and connection. Through a real and unscripted conversation, we talk about what anxiety actually feels like, how it shows up in everyday life, and what helps… and what doesn’t. You’ll hear a middle schooler describe anxiety in her own words—what adults often miss, what support really looks like, and how she navigates those moments. Alongside that, we share a parent’s perspective…reflecting on personal experiences, misunderstandings growing up, and the ongoing process of learning how to respond with empathy instead of solutions. We know we are not the experts, but these conversations are important. This episode isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about opening the door. We also share simple, practical ways to start these conversations in your own home—questions you can ask, approaches that build trust, and small strategies that can make a big difference over time. A note for listeners: You may find it helpful to listen to this episode once on your own first—to reflect and gather your thoughts. Then, consider listening again with your child. Use it as a starting point, a shared experience, or even just a gentle way to say, “We can talk about this.” Because sometimes the hardest part isn’t the conversation itself… it’s knowing how to begin.

Marching through March!

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2510283/fan_mail/new] March didn’t just pass by… it sprinted, zig-zagged, and occasionally got struck by lightning ⚡ In this episode of Little Adventures, Big Life, we unpack a month that felt like a whole season of life crammed into a few wild weeks. From navigating the tricky waters of talking with kids about real-world politics, to embracing the joy (and occasional chaos) of new local adventures, this one covers it all. We explore Roanoke’s growing playground of movement and exploration—skateparks, pump tracks, and the kayak river park—where curiosity meets scraped knees and big smiles. Along the way, we swap stories about March’s unpredictable weather (sunshine, storms, and everything in between), celebrate Evie’s journey in the AEL League, and face the slightly shocking realization that there are only nine weeks of school left before summer arrives. It’s a conversation about balance—the serious and the silly, the structured and the spontaneous—and how the little moments, even in the busiest months, are quietly building a big life.

Some books, water, love, & horses...

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2510283/fan_mail/new] As we are doing our best to get through the plague at our house, the February recap for “Little Adventures, Big Life” podcast explores various topics. We get into the perception of library cards as either a gateway to adventure or a daunting task, the transformative journey of swimming from a safety measure to a challenging sport, and the complexities of love beyond Valentine’s Day. The episode also examines the blurred lines between hobbies and identities, particularly in the context of equestrianism. We so appreciate your patience with us as we figure out a recording schedule and life! Thank you for all the comments, and we appreciate you!  Until next time, Go enjoy a Little Adventure, in your Big Life!
