#43: Deciphering Nutrition Models With Erin Butler & Shannon O' Grady Ph.D

Deciphering between different nutrition models, diets, etc can be overwhelming and we may not be sure where to begin.    The goal of this episode was to get two different experts together and help break down some popular trends. We are joined by Erin Butler, MTN RDY Nutrition Therapist and Shannon O'Grady Ph.D. who is the Director of Product Development at Gnarly Nutrition and this will be her third time joining us. We are obviously a fan.    We chat about intermittent fasting, keto, paleo, vegan, and some other nutrition trends and also take some questions from the community.    Also, do yourself a favor and try https://gognarly.com/ [https://gognarly.com/]  -- full transparency, we get no kickback from this. We just like to promote good products that help. Use the code mtnrdy for 15% off all products.

#41: The Complexities of Hunting Ethics - A Discussion With The Experts, Dr. Josh Lenart

Conversations that only occur in echo chambers don't always spur growth. Divisiveness occurs when we think we need to go left or right. I am interested in having conversations on the MTN RDY podcast that propel us forward. How can we bridge this gap? How can we understand one another? This doesn't mean we have to change our personal ethics or lifestyle. It means we can listen to understand one another. This is sometimes easier said than done. • Disclaimer: I don't hunt and I don't eat meat. This is a personal choice. It doesn't mean I am better than anyone nor the latter. • In the past, I caught myself judging those that do go Backcountry hunting without asking any questions about it myself. I labeled. This is a fundamental problem. I labeled them and passed severe judgment without seeking to understand. I have had some confronting experiences lately about my own judgments and the consequences I have had to face because of them. • I had one of the best conversations I have ever had on the podcast with Dr. Josh Lenart who serves as the chair for the Backcountry Hunters & Anglers for the Central Region Utah Chapter and one of his board members, Caitlin who is also brilliant. • We chatted environmental and economic benefits of BC Hunting, ethics of hunting, common misconceptions, common understandings, game population, and more. • We walked away with an understanding, which is all you can ask for.

#39: Diving Into Your Questions With The Utah Avalanche Center

We are back with the Director of the Utah Avalanche Center, Chad Brackelsberg. If you didn't listen to our first episode with Chad, we highly recommend you go back and listen to Episode Utah Avy Center Podcast #21 [https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/21-utah-avalanche-center/id1247353769?i=1000395311466&mt=2]    This helps build a base of the avalanche safety and awareness protocol for athletes. We dive a little deeper in this episode reflecting back on the 2017 season, updated learning modules to keep us educated and field questions from the backcountry skiing (and running) communities.    We also opened up (6) additional slots for our Backcountry "Skills in the Hills" workshop with Utah Ski Guides Amy David and Noah Howell to increase your base of knowledge with two extremely experienced guides in the Backcountry.    MTN RDY Backcountry Workshop [http://www.mountainreadyfit.com/noah-howell-clinic]   Last, the UAC is a 501c3.
