Acerca de Mysteries, Graveyards and the Human Psyche

The idea to start this podcast came from three different poles, and each one gave me a little shock of inspiration. The first initiating element was finding myself booked in a hotel that turned out to be haunted. This made me extremely receptive to and interested by people's lived experiences of liminality. How do you cope with something that you know is not supposed to be happening? The next lightning strike was a chart reading from my astrologer Sindy Schönherr. She validated something that I have always felt- I am very comfortable exploring "mysteries, graveyards and the human psyche" and would be a good guide for people who normally do not find themselves in those realms. Hence, the title of this podcast was conceived. The third ingredient came when my friend Karen Frazer approached me and told me that she wanted to get the word out about protecting headstones and burial grounds. My resolution to give my friend a platform was what caused this podcast to be born. So you see, it took ghosts, an astrologer and a cemetery guardian to get this thing going. Hope you enjoy it.

Season 2 Episode 9: Interview with Brian Whitney, musician

How do creative people find day jobs that allow them to be creative when they come home? You can't have a job that exhausts you mentally or even physically, otherwise you will never get to the real work. A couple weeks ago, Brian Whitney posted one of those Instagram prompts to his stories- this was a list of the many jobs he has taken in order to survive. These include job titles like: barista, sandwich artist, cashier, bin filler, and paraprofessional. In this episode we find out how Brian has been able to work and make space to be creative because in the interim, he has also been part of a few bands and has released a few albums of solo work. His current official titles are videographer, marketing assistant and box office associate. And you can hear his musical projects Wild Combo, and Harrison Sword on Spotify. This episode contains original music by Brian Whitney.
