Love is the Mission // Salvific Love Vs. Burdened Obedience (1 John 5:1-4)

As we seek relationship with Jesus, we have the opportunity to know the God of the Universe and understand how deep His love is. However, as we seek to follow Him and live out His commands, we are faced with a question: Are we following Him out of obligation or out of overflow of love? As we look at 1 John 5, we see that only His love is the way to go, and any other way of following Him will lead to feeling burdened by following the way of a perfect God. Love is the Mission // The Source of Love (1 John 4:16b-21)

In the wake of cultural hostility, we take a moment to address what it means to have Jesus as the source of our love. In today’s sermon, we address that love we produce will come from what we abide in. Therefore, if we want to love others like Jesus would, we can’t just go through the motions, we must abide in His love. Love is the Mission // The Epitome of Love (1 John 4:7-16a)

In this new series, we’re going finish off our theme for the year of “Life On Mission” with the idea that Love is the ultimate mission. In today’s sermon, we’re going to address that love is not just something we feel, but it’s a person named Jesus. Therefore, if we want to know what love is, we can’t just go through the motions, we must have a relationship with God, who is the fullness of love. Walking With God // Walking In Truth With God (1 John 4:1-6)

Walking with God is intimate and personal. However, the ways of the world seem to offer us counterfeit versions of that same intimacy. They draw us away from knowing who God truly is, which as a default, draws us away from his love. In this message we will see that true love starts with the true God—so don’t settle for a lie dressed as Him.
