But Moses has doubts. He was no longer a hot headed 40-year-old (instead, he was a doubtful 80-year-old). But God encourages him, and off he goes. Then he and the Israelites eventually are freed, and they encounter the Red Sea. "How will God save us from this?" the Israelites wondered. But God comes through for them, as He always did. Moses's life is filled with miracle after miracle. His faith endured through Egypt, across the Red Sea, and into the wilderness. How far will your faith take you? Jacob lied to his father in order to steal his birthright. His brother wanted to kill him for his manipulation. So he ran away from home. But God shows him a vision of a ladder leading to heaven, giving Jacob hope that his mistakes do not have to define him, and that Jesus can lead him where he needs to be. So he ends up with his uncle, who lies and manipulates him for 14+ years. "God, was this part of your plan? You brought me here for a reason, right?" That reason, and more, is discussed in this episode's message. May we have the faith of Jacob, who goes on to say to God, after a tumultuous and hard life, "I will not let You go unless You bless me." Time after time, when things looked bleak, when mistakes were made, God provided for Isaac. Isaac remained faithful that God could use his mistakes for a blessing. How does this reflect to us today? But when he got there, there was a famine, and instead of trusting God, he went to Egypt. But God was with Abram, even when he took things into his own hands, changing Abram's name to Abraham–a father of many nations. After fulfilling His promise to Abraham, God challenges Abraham, calling him to sacrifice his only son Isaac. Instead of saying no, Abraham doesn't argue, and he takes his son to a mountain to sacrifice him. What kind of faith did Abraham have to willingly go through with this? Sarah laughed at the prospect of having a child. After all, she was at the ripe young age of 89. But a year later, God fulfilled His promise to her and Abraham, and she gave birth to Isaac. Though she doubted, God still fulfilled. Though there are many reasons to doubt in our world today, God still comes through for His people. God has never made a promise He won't or hasn't already fulfilled. Sometimes, all we need is a little bit of patience.
