Original Airdate: Aug 26, 1974 Episode 0139 “The Deadliest Favor” Written by Sam Dann, Directed by Himan Brown, Host: E.G. Marshall A novelist and his wife take in an old college buddy who's on the lamb from the law. The old "buddy" starts trouble between them almost upon his arrival. May I be your guide once again for that trip through another world, a world of the weird and the unusual? Consider. What we are pleased to call science is based primarily on our observation of cause and effect. So we say the rooster crows to herald the approach of dawn. But what does the rooster think? From his point of view, isn't he justified in believing that the Sun rises because he commands it? In the final analysis, it all becomes a matter of perspective, doesn't it? The poet said, He that dies pays all his debts. And while this may be true, it is neither a practical nor a popular way to discharge one's obligations. And yet, How can we ever hope to pay the vast accumulation of debt that accrues during our lifetime? Oh, this has nothing to do with money. We refer, rather, to the true obligations when we ask, Can anyone live long enough to repay all the favors extended, all the kindnesses shown, all the comforting words spoken by friends and strangers? Rare is that fortunate man or woman whose account is not in arrears. Starring: Norman Rose, Marian Seldes, Ralph Bell, Dan Ocko
