Taylor writes from a hypothetical perspective, having been inspired by a movie she saw that includes memories and flashbacks of a profound relationship within New York City. When worlds collide like this, we are left feeling blessed, seen, and utterly satisfied. We also have a discussion on how we just know Debut (Taylor's Version) will be coming out this year; the coming home imagery of "I Knew It, I Knew You," the 20th anniversary, the easter eggs.....it's definitely happening, right?! Oh goddamn! This stunning song is one of Taylor's best examples of poetic imagery, storytelling, and escapism. We couldn't help but wonder if Taylor was projecting herself into the narrator's point of view, or if she was inspired by historical figures of years ago. It was also challenging to discern whether or not the narrator in this song is happy and relieved for the "ivy," or if she's cursing it. One thing was certain for the both of us: it's a deeply profound and absolutely beautiful song.
