"Evinrude" is Latin for Dogsh*t - Before & After & After - Chippewa Flowage - Episode 152
Sometimes a fishing derby doesn't go the way you planned. Actually, sometimes nothing goes the way you planned — especially when you're running an Evinrude that decides to play Russian roulette with your confidence. Worthless isn't really a strong enough word for that motor.
We're diving into two days of the Chippewa Flowage solo derby, and yeah, there's some real frustration baked into this one. Day one had Jordan grinding as a Boater alongside a solid fishing partner that he didn't know he was gonna have in the boat until that morning, but the real story? That Evinrude. You know the one. The one that drops RPM on pad, shuts off, fires back up, shuts off again, and then — after enough cycles of rage-fueled troubleshooting — just decides it's done with you. Completely done. Won't start. Won't even pretend to cooperate. It's the kind of motor drama that'll test your patience faster than a full moon bite.
But here's the thing: fishing is still fishing, and fun found a way in anyway.
Day two brought an unexpected turn when Jordan, fishing as a non-boater, got in the Triton with Brian Beebe, and that's where the energy shifted. Fresh perspective, different approach, and a reminder that sometimes the best derby moments aren't about dominating the leaderboard — they're about who's sitting next to you and what you're learning together.
