Sleep Biology Basics: Ep 5 - What else can impact sleep?

Welcome back to the fifth and FINAL episode of Sleep Biology Basics! You made it all the way through!! This is part of the FREE Sleep Biology Basics Resource [https://mailchi.mp/9880a5efdc27/sleep-biology-basics-series-signup] I’m offering that you can access here: In this episode we will be exploring some of the additional factors that can impact sleep - namely: Temperament Developmental phases / learning new skills Discomfort – digestion/ allergies / teething / illness Separation anxiety & big life changes Environmental factors With our foundations of Sleep Biology Basics, we can check a couple of things - Is there enough Sleep Pressure? Are they having too much / enough sleep in 24 hours? Is the circadian rhythm optimised? (or mature enough) How is their nervous system state? Do they feel safe and calm enough to sleep? Then from there, if all of these are set and we’re still a bit stumped, we can start looking at some of these other factors. I hope you can find this both interesting and supportive - please do pop any questions in the comments section (on Substack if you’re reading this elsewhere). Sleep Biology Basics: Ep 4 - The link between the nervous system & sleep

Welcome back to the fourth and penultimate episode of Sleep Biology Basics! This is part of the FREE Sleep Biology Basics Resource [https://mailchi.mp/9880a5efdc27/sleep-biology-basics-series-signup] I’m offering that you can access here: In this episode we will be exploring the link between the nervous system & sleep. This is something that often gets missed by mainstream sleep (training) narratives. When we believe that sleep is a skill (which it is not!) then we think we just need to teach it and that will *make* it happen. Instead we need to remember that sleep is a biological function, and a very vulnerable one. We need to feel safe enough in order to easily go to sleep. I hope you can find this both interesting and supportive - please do pop any questions in the comments section (on Substack if you’re reading this elsewhere). All 5 episodes, as well as extra strategies, context and resources are available now. I’ll be releasing the final episode soon. The episodes cover: Ep 1 - Why do we need Sleep Biology Basics? Ep 2 - Driving Forces of Sleep: Circadian Rhythm Ep 3 - Driving Forces of Sleep: Sleep Pressure Ep 4 - The Link Between the Nervous System & Sleep Ep 5 - What Else can Impact Sleep? Welcome to Sleep Biology Basics Series: Ep 1 - Why do we need Sleep Biology Basics

Welcome to the first episode in this Sleep Biology Basics Series, a series to support you in understanding and supporting your little one(s)’ sleep. So much of baby and toddler sleep advice is really confusing and overwhelming (and often not evidence-based). I know I was totally overwhelmed before I trained as a Holistic Sleep Coach, and decided I needed to create something to support other parents to feel less stressed and more equipped for baby sleep. These episodes (5 in total) are part of a FREE resource [https://mailchi.mp/9880a5efdc27/sleep-biology-basics-series-signup] that I’ve created to support you in building the foundations of understanding Sleep Biology Basics. This is an Ebook that includes extra context, information, ideas and strategies. I will be releasing the episodes individually here, but you can access all 5 right now in the ebook if you don’t want to wait! Please do share any questions, thoughts or ‘aha moments’ in the comments. I’d love to connect. This is a public episode.
