Dr. Pawel Dziewulski

Pawel Dziewulsky is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of Sussex. He completed his PhD in economics at Oxford University in 2015, where he wrote his thesis on time-dependence and revealed preference. Since then, he has since taught economics courses ranging from microeconomics to game theory to applied mathematics for economists. His research has earned several awards - these include the Doctoral Studentship Award from the Oxford economics department, as well as the Research Excellence Award at the University of Sussex Business School. He has presented his work at conferences and seminars from Paris and Berlin to Montreal and California. He has been a referee for 14 academic journals, including the American Economic Journal and Econometrica - names which may be very familiar to economics students.

Dr. Angela Redish

Dr. Angela Redish is an economics professor at the University of British Columbia. She completed her BA in honours economics at Wilfrid Laurier University, followed by a master's and PhD in economics at the University of Western Ontario. During her time as a professor, Dr. Redish has served as special advisor to the Bank of Canada, head of the economics department and senior advisor to the president at the University of British Columbia, and visiting fellow at All Souls College, Oxford University. Her 20+ journal publications have focused on the history of monetary and banking systems in Europe and North America, receiving several national grants, and she is the co-author of the Canadian first edition of Money, Banking and Financial Markets. Dr. Redish has served as a member of the C.D. Howe Monetary Policy Council, assessing Canadian monetary policy; she has been an Editorial Board Member of several journals including the European Review of Economic History, and she is a past president of the Canadian Economics Association.

Dr. Siân Echard

Dr. Siân Echard is a Professor of English and Distinguished University Scholar at the University of British Columbia. She completed her Master's and PhD at the Centre for Medieval Studies at the University of Toronto in 1990. Since then, she has taught courses in Middle English Literature, medievalism, book history and the Arthurian tradition, and she has published over 40 works on these topics. Among these, she has published several books including Printing the Middle Ages, released in 2008, and The Arthur of Medieval Latin Literature, in 2011. She's one of two general editors of The Encyclopedia of Medieval Literature in Britain and has just finished co-writing a history of the book in Britain. She has been awarded the prestigious UBC Killiam Research Prize and Teaching Prize, has been the Head of the English Department at the University of British Columbia, and is now a member of the governing council of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.

From premed at Stanford to web development to becoming the Chair of UBC Sauder's Marketing & Behavioural Science Division, Dr. Hardisty discusses rejection, persistence, and what to do when your planned career doesn't feel like a fit. -- Dr. David J. Hardisty is an Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia's Sauder School of Business. He completed his BA at Stanford, his Master of Research at the Université Paris Descartes, and his MA, MPhil and PhD at Columbia University in New York. Though his degrees are in psychology, Dr. Hardisty's career path has ranged from beginning as a premed student at Stanford to teaching English in Japan, later working as a freelance web developer, before beginning his current research into consumer behaviour. He teaches courses in consumer decision-making, ethics and sustainability, and he's published over 20 papers in journals including the Journal of Consumer Psychology and the Journal of Marketing. He is an editorial board member for the Journal of Behavioral Decision Making, as well as an ad hoc reviewer for over 30 other journals. In 2018, he co-founded the Centre for Decision Insights for Business and Society, and he is the Chair of the University of British Columbia's Marketing and Behavioural Science Division.

Dr. Felipe Valencia Caicedo

Dr. Felipe Valencia Caicedo is an assistant professor at the University of British Columbia's Vancouver School of Economics. He completed his BA at Brown University, with master's degrees from Brown University and Yale University, followed by a PhD in economics, finance and management from Spain's Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Between his bachelor's and master's degrees, Dr. Valencia completed a summer analyst internship at Goldman Sachs, receiving the Goldman Sachs Scholarship for Excellence, and following his master's, he was an extended term consultant in the Office of the Chief Economist for Latin America and the Caribbean. After his PhD, Dr. Valencia became a tenure track assistant professor at Germany's Bonn University, before joining the University of British Columbia. His research has been featured in Vox and the Washington Post, among others. He referees for over 15 journals, including Econometrica and the Quarterly Journal of Economics, and he is a research affiliate of the Centre for Economic Policy Research.
