Acerca de The Barefoot Babes Podcast

Welcome to the Barefoot Babes podcast! A little bit about your hosts: Josie has been on a healing journey of her own after navigating recurrent pregnancy loss and autoimmune conditions. Throughout her journey, she has been learning a new way to support and heal her body by focusing on nourishing her body and leaning into her intuition. Sarah Anne has been working to discover her mind-body-spirit connection for the first time. She went from being an undernourished endurance athlete struggling with common issues to now realizing that those are symptoms of a dysfunctional body.

episode S5E8 Spiritual Wellness and Our Femininity artwork

S5E8 Spiritual Wellness and Our Femininity

In this week's conversation, we are diving into the concept of spiritual wellness. It has proven to be a complex topic to process and discuss, so please bear with us as we try to navigate this topic in real time! We dive into: What does it mean to be spiritually well? Can people of all different belief systems be spiritually healthy? How does our spirit affect our physical and mental wellbeing? How is our feminine (or masculine) energy reflective of our spiritual reality? What does healthy femininity and masculinity look in light of all these other things? We would LOVE to hear any feedback and input you have from this episode!! You can leave us a comment or review, or DM us on our instagram @barefootbabespodcast. We look forward to hearing from you!

episode S5E7 What is a Wholly-Well Woman? artwork

S5E7 What is a Wholly-Well Woman?

On today’s episode, we mull over the concept of being a well as a WHOLE woman, and how nurturing our minds, bodies, and spirits are all necessary aspects of pursuing this. We approach this topic largely by looking at our own journeys up to this point and analyzing situations or seasons in which we’ve done well at weaving our whole beings together, as well as times we haven’t done that so well.  Wellness is not something that you can fully and finally achieve at a point in time, but rather a continuum that ebbs and flows. Therefore, we hope you are encouraged by this conversation and can take something with you going forward as you also form your vision of what it is to be a wholly-well woman.  As always, if this episode resonated with you or you have something to add, leave a comment or review, or send us a DM on our brand new podcast Instagram page @barefootbabespodcast. We look forward to continuing the conversation with you!

episode S5E6 Evidence-Based and Intuitive Decisions artwork

S5E6 Evidence-Based and Intuitive Decisions

We have often talked about intuition in the past and the importance of listening to that and letting it be your guide in many different areas of health and wellbeing.  Today, we discuss keeping the tension between our intuition and evidence-based practice. While simply “following the evidence-backed approaches” is something that is easier said than done, often leaving us confused and inconsistent, we are also less connected to our intuitions in our current age of distraction and information.  So how do you know what is your intuition vs societal pressure? How do you know when to “trust the science” or dig a little deeper before making a choice? What do you do when the evidence points in many different directions? How do you sift through all the information and your gut instincts and actually make the choices are confident in for yourself and your family? We chat about all that and more today. So, give a listen and let us know your thoughts! Does this episode resonate with you? Leave a comment or review, or send us a DM on our brand new podcast Instagram page @barefootbabespodcast. We look forward to continuing the conversation with you!

episode S5E5 Experimenting with Our Personal Optimal Diets artwork

S5E5 Experimenting with Our Personal Optimal Diets

We’ve discussed our thoughts on nutrition in past episodes, but our view points in this area are ever-evolving as we receive new information, our circumstances change, and we further embrace finding what works for each of us personally.  Today, we discuss ways that we have been experimenting with our personal optimal nutrition including things like fasting windows, seasonal changes, macro changes, and new (to us) culinary techniques. While the foundational markers we use to gauge our health will always stay pretty much the same, the methods often change for various reasons.  We hope this conversation reminds you that if something isn’t working for you, even if you’re doing all the “right thing,” you have the ability, even the responsibility to try doing things differently until you find what does work for you. Even the advice of seasoned professionals can’t replace the knowledge you have about yourself. No one else knows how it feels to live in your body, so take this as your invitation to be your own health expert!  Does this episode resonate with you? Leave a comment or review, or send us a DM on our brand new podcast Instagram page @barefootbabespodcast. We look forward to continuing the conversation with you!

episode S5E4 When Labels Become Our Identity artwork

S5E4 When Labels Become Our Identity

Most people think of responsibility as making the "right" choices, but those choices often seem already made for us by society. Sarah Anne and Josie challenge the societal narrative that external circumstances or past patterns dictate our fate, showing how ownership and intentional decision-making empower us to break free from generational cycles and societal pressures. We cover how labels (such as chronic health diagnoses)can either foster understanding or trap us inside limiting boxes. We discuss practical tools for cultivating self-responsibility, such as pausing before following social media trends, discerning the difference between education and trend-following, and intentionally rethinking how we view ourselves and others. This conversation digs into how embracing self-responsibility in our decision making can lead to greater freedom, healing, and generational impact, even amidst societal skepticism and personal doubt. Does this episode resonate with you? Leave a comment or review, or send us a DM on our brand new podcast Instagram page @barefootbabespodcast. We look forward to continuing the conversation with you!
