episode Jeffrey Bradley’s life is shaped by a deep commitment to social justice and education. artwork

Jeffrey Bradley’s life is shaped by a deep commitment to social justice and education.

As a PhD candidate in Legal Studies at Carleton University and a part-time criminology professor at the University of Ottawa, he dedicates his work to understanding and challenging systems of criminalization and punishment. A member of the Criminalization and Punishment Education Project, Jeffrey is actively involved in advocacy efforts that seek to support incarcerated individuals and their loved ones. A queer settler living on the unceded and unsurrendered Algonquin Anishinaabe territory (so-called Ottawa), he approaches his work with a critical lens on justice, accountability, and human rights. His journey into prison justice reform has been one of both scholarship and activism, driven by a belief in the power of education and community support to create meaningful change.

episode Fatimah Muwahhid's life is a testament to resilience and unwavering commitment. artwork

Fatimah Muwahhid's life is a testament to resilience and unwavering commitment.

Raised on a farm in Virginia by "hippie" parents who instilled in her the values of self-sufficiency and hard work, Fatimah’s foundation led her to explore diverse roles, including a period working in prison administration. Eight years ago, her life took a significant turn when she met Talib Muwahhid, now her husband. Today, she is a Muslim, a mother, a wife, and a passionate advocate for justice reform. Her relationship with Talib, who is serving a lengthy prison sentence, has been a journey of profound love and dedication. She believes in the power of strong connections—whether through religion, culture, or shared experiences—to navigate the unpredictable realities of incarceration. Fatimah channels her experiences into advocacy, finding purpose in grassroots organizations like The Humanization Project and as the Virginia Representative for Survivors4JusticeReform. Through her work and personal journey, she illuminates the power of love, faith, and resilience in the face of adversity.
