A former corporate executive who once led global change programs, she now advises leaders and public figures and writes about how people rebuild after life takes everything out from under them. She joined Cynthia from New Zealand for one of the most honest conversations the show has had. Sally has lived through extreme adversity, including profound loss, and she stepped away from public life for seven and a half years before returning to share her story and her work. Beyond Brave grew out of the years after her husband Roger died, and it centers on what she calls the empowered side of grief. In this episode, she and Cynthia talk about courage, fear, and faith, the three pillars at the heart of the book (embracing confrontation, resistance, and discomfort), what it means to be soft and gentle with yourself in the hardest weeks, and how we keep living fully when so much feels uncertain. Her core message is one of hope: "I think it's important that people realize that it is actually possible to get beyond what it is that you've experienced, regardless of the extremity."
