It tends to feel a lot more comfortable to think about and experience the Holy Spirit when we're gathered as the church. In our weekend Worship Services and Prayer Meetings, but the reality is there is a special kind of reward that the Holy Spirit has for us while the church is scattered. He strengthens and clarifies our identity, he convicts us of sin and leads us to repentance, and he sends us out into the world with renewed purpose!

Forming a Theology of Technology

The advent and rapid development of modern technology have created a unique context in which we must listen to God! In that context, we need a strategy to be primarily shaped by the Holy Spirit rather than our devices! In this episode, we offer a simple challenge: to develop a theology of technology and to commit to principles that help ensure we are first and foremost formed by Jesus.

Life With The Holy Spirit

To kick off Season 5 of the District Life podcast, Travis and I sit down and discuss the Holy Spirit. "The Helper" that Jesus promised to his disciples when he ascended back to heaven is the greatest gift, and yet so many Christians seem content to live without the fruit of His Presence. With so many misconceptions and mysteries, it is understandable to feel a bit overwhelmed or intimidated, but if we can simply lean in and abide, the fruit of the Christian life will begin to sprout in our lives.

Day 21 - The Gospel On The Move

2 Thessalonians 3:1 As for other matters, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you.  Reflection  Paul asks the church to pray that the message of the Lord would run freely and be honored. The gospel is alive and powerful, advancing wherever God opens hearts to receive it. When we pray, we participate in God’s work of bringing salvation to the world.  Application  Today, ask God to let the gospel spread rapidly across our nation and throughout the world. Pray for open hearts and minds to respond in faith. Lift up those you know who are far from God, asking for mercy and salvation. Trust God to bring many to faith in Jesus and to see lives transformed and baptized this year.

Day 20 - Boldness to Proclaim

Ephesians 6:18-20 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.  Reflection  Paul reminds us that bold gospel witness is sustained by prayer. Courage does not come from confidence in ourselves, but from dependence on God. When we pray, God supplies both the words and the strength needed to make Christ known.  Application  Today, ask God to make you fearless and faithful in sharing the gospel. Pray for clarity and courage to speak of what Christ has done. Lift up church planters and planting teams around the world, and ask God to call many from The District to carry the message of Jesus across cultures and nations.
