ADHD and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

We all know the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. The one where your brain is foggy, your patience is short, and everything feels like trudging through mud. Bad days aren’t proof of failure. They’re proof of being human. The question isn’t how do we fix them? but how do we move with them without unraveling? How do we allow our diverse thinking to still flourish? In this reflection, I explore: * Why bad days don’t make you inconsistent * How to build flexibility into your routines * Small swaps that keep you nourished and grounded when the plan falls apart * What it means to hold space for storms without shame This isn’t a pep-talk episode. It’s a reminder that consistency is not perfection—it’s resilience. ✨ Takeaways: * Consistency = flexibility * Bad days are part of the human rhythm * Don’t toss progress because of one off-day * Build margin, not just goals 👉🏾 Subscribe to The Divergent Dreamer 👉🏾 Share your story: divergentdreams.co/#contact [https://www.divergentdreams.co/?utm_source=chatgpt.com#contact] 👉🏾 Support: buymeacoffee.com/najeeward [https://buymeacoffee.com/najeeward?utm_source=chatgpt.com] ADHD routines, bad day plan, neurodivergent consistency, resilience practices, mindfulness for creatives

episode The Rawest Version of Me artwork

The Rawest Version of Me

If overthinking got out of the way, you’d meet the rawest version of me. The silly, goofy side. The kid-like wonder that gets hyped over a perfectly seasoned fry or a new leaf on my plant. For a long time, I believed those parts of me had no place in “professionalism” or even manhood. I learned to tone them down because joy made me feel exposed. But those very quirks—the excitements and sensitivities—have been the bridges that connect me to people and remind me that I belong. This episode is me letting you in. Not the polished, “always put together” me. But the real me—unguarded, corny, wide-eyed, and hungry to see wonder in the world. Because I’m learning that hiding my rawest form doesn’t just make me smaller—it makes my impact smaller too. And I think the same is true for all of us.

Celebrating The Shadow Work Pt. 2: Fear, Perfectionism, and Procrastination

Sometimes, the freeze comes right after the fire. You’re lit up. Inspired. You can see your next steps so clearly…And then—nothing. Our shadow self—the part of us carrying old fears and unprocessed grief—often steps in right when we’re ready to leap. It’s not there to ruin us. It’s there to shield us from a pain we still don’t know how to hold. The trouble is, that protection can look a lot like procrastination, perfectionism, or paralysis. This week, I talk about tracing my own shadow back to childhood losses, realizing it wasn’t my enemy—it was my bodyguard. By asking, “What are you trying to protect me from?” I’ve been able to move forward with all of me—not just the bold, eager parts. This isn’t a fight against yourself. Rather it’s an invitation to bring every part of you to the table. When you do, the work feels less like a battle and more like a conversation. Listen in if you’ve ever: * Felt momentum stall for “no reason” * Wanted to understand the link between fear, safety, and stuckness * Needed a gentler way to move through your shadow work This is a public episode. episode Done > Perfect artwork

Done > Perfect

We forget that it doesn’t have to be perfect to begin. Najee unpacks the idea of the minimum viable product—a concept from product management that applies to every creative, dreamer, and builder. The goal isn’t to settle. The goal is to release the heart of your vision now, without letting the pressure of “perfect” keep you stuck. When we reconnect with our why, we remove the barriers we put in our own way. You’re invited to name your why, identify the smallest version of your dream that still carries its essence, and give yourself permission to begin—imperfect and present. If you’ve been holding your vision hostage to optimization and perfection, this is your reminder: start where you are, with what you have, today.
