#8: Life, Love, & Business with Andy & Desiree Heckman Owners of Old Town Yoga

Both Andy and Desiree came from blue collar families. Desiree is originally from Arizona and comes from an extremely small town of approximately 30,000 people. As a result, coming to the Fresno area was extremely overwhelming for her. Andy is a mountain boy that grew up in Bass Lake, CA. Just about the time he was going to graduate from Fresno State University, he eventually made the move to Fresno, CA. They met while they both were attending college at Fresno State University. Desiree got her Bachelors degree in Psychology and she did college advising for a few years. Andy studied Fine Art, however he quickly realized that his degree wouldn't really give him the opportunity to line up a good job right after graduating college. So, he ended up double majoring in GIS, which led to a job in waste water treatment for about 10 years. As a stay at home mom, Desiree began teaching Yoga at GB3 (a local gym) a few nights a week. She talks about how stressful and vulnerable it was to get up in front of people and guide them through a very structured practice. There were lots of times where she would just go home crying in her car. Even though it was rough at first, she continued to push through it. And through this she realized that she wanted to teach more and more. She absolutely loved the community of people that yoga was allowing her to be around and wanted to find a way to get more of that community on a regular basis. Desiree and Andy talk a lot about all the obstacles that come with being in business with your spouse. They talk about how opening up their first studio, took a big toll on their relationship. However, their success has come from constantly supporting each other through the thick and thin times. Listen carefully, because they share some great insights about being in business with your spouse. Despite everything they have been through, they have found a way to work through it together and have come out on top. #7: Anything is Possible with Personal Trainer Sam Okoidu

Sam's Journey began when his family  immigrated from Nigeria to the United States when he was 4-5 years old. He vividly remembers his parents working in the fields when they first came to the USA. Seeing his parents go to work in the fields every day taught him how to just get up every day and grind it out. No matter what you did you, just work as hard as you can. The stresses of being in the states eventually got to Sam's parents and they ended up splitting up. His mom raised him and his siblings as a single mother, working multiple jobs! From a very young age, he realized that he needed to do something if he ever wanted to have any money in life. So, in middle school and high school he was always selling candies, washing people's car's, and doing a paper route in-order to make some money. Sam also began getting into trouble on the streets and would eventually get in trouble for 2 robberies in 2010. As a result, he was spent a whole year in the county jail! It was during this time that Sam says that his life completely changed. In fact, at the same time that he was going to jail he was also just getting into personal training. He says that he started reading his bible, personal training, and personal development books while he was locked up. He knew that he needed to change! As Sam started changing and working out in jail, the other inmates started noticing him changing. People started coming to him, asking for his help. He was hesitant to help anyone else out at first, because he was just so focused on getting himself right. Eventually, he started training one guy, two guys, three guys, and then a whole lot more. His successful personal training business literally started in county jail!!  Iron Bird Fitness is now an extremely successful personal training business here in Fresno, CA and Sam is changing the lives of many people on a weekly basis! #6: Everything Worth While is an Uphill Battle with Mortgage Broker Corbin Claypool

Corbin grew up with an entrepreneurial mindset from the start. In elementary school he sold Pokemon cards to his classmates and also sold lemonade on street corners in his family's neighborhood. And in middle/high school Corbin would sell candy bars and sodas to his classmates. No matter where he was at in life, he just always found himself selling things to people. He grew up going to his Father's Dental Office, thinking that he was going to follow in his Father's foot steps. For long time he would tell everyone that, "He was going to be a Dentist when he grew up!" However, he didn't even really want to be a Dentist. Naturally, as most young boys do, Corbin looked up to his Father for everything. So, he just wanted to do whatever his Father was doing! That being said, Corbin didn't push himself in school and found himself getting into more trouble and more trouble. He just didn't have the drive for school and becoming a dentist. It wasn't something that excited him! It wasn't until college that he started his first business, which came as a result for his love for fitness.  He launched his personal training business in San Diego and successfully built it up in a short period of time. While he was running his successful business, he still found himself drinking and going out more often than he would have liked to say. He wasn't living a good and focused life. Feeling conflicted, he knew that he needed to change the environment that he was in! That's when he decided to move back to Fresno, to get away from his fast paced life in San Diego. Prompted by his stepdad, he began the process of acquiring his CA Mortgage License while going to back to college. Once Corbin was licensed. he slowly began to learn the Mortgage business. However, he still hadn't fully committed to being a successful Loan Officer.  During his first year in the business Corbin also joined a Network Marketing Company. He attributes a lot of his skills in mindset, leadership, networking, and entrepreneurship to being associated with Network Marketing! After a full year in the Mortgage Industry, he finally just took the leap of faith and fully committed to his Mortage business. Three years in the business and Corbin is now one of the top producing Mortgage Brokers in the Central Valley! He has quickly made a big name for himself and surpassed other Loan Officers who have been in the business much longer than him. All that being said, this is one of the most humble guys that you will ever meet and he attributes his success to God! We hope that you enjoy this episode.
