Inside Parental Alienation with World Expert Dr. Richard Warshak

As a follow up to the interview with Victor Dohleman, who suffered through 25 years of Parental Alienation, expert Richard A. Warshak PhD, psychologist and author, regarded as one of the world’s foremost experts on this subject, picks up where Dohleman’s interview leaves off. Warshak provides a clearer definition of the signs this problematic “syndrome” and tells Host Glass why engaging in it is a detriment to a child’s well-being. He offers suggestions on how to avoid getting caught in this “parent trap,” what remedies to seek if you become a victim of it, and how to find peace of mind. Warshak, whose book, “Divorce Poison,” lays it all out, touches on highights of that informative tutorial, to help guide parents who either find themselves the perpetrator or the victim of badmouthing, gaslighting and/or brainwashing. As a former psychologist, Host Glass echoes Warshak’s commentary, since many of his cases include this problem. Warshak is a grad of Cornell University, a past Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and one of the world’s most respected authorities on divorce, child custody, and the psychology of alienated children. His groundbreaking studies appear in 18 books and more than 90 articles in 18 languages. Warshak’s work on relocation has influenced decisions in two Supreme Courts and his studies are cited in international case law and legislation. In addition to his book, his video, “Welcome Back, Pluto: Understanding, Preventing, and Overcoming Parental Alienation,” is used in every state in the U.S. and 31 foreign countries. He is soon to release a new book that also delves into another aspect of Parental Alienation. This is a powerhouse Episode! Parental Alienation: A Father’s 25-Year Legal Battle (S8E1)

Season 8 of the HourGLASS Podcast opens with a difficult but necessary conversation: parental alienation, a process in which one parent psychologically manipulates a child to unfairly reject, fear, or show hostility towards the other parent.Sometimes the tactics are obvious: • Outgifting the other parent• Moving away to limit access• Controlling schedules and communicationOther times, they’re subtle but just as powerful: • An eye roll when the other parent is mentioned• A sigh, a tone, a dismissive comment• Undermining words disguised as concernThese moments accumulate. The damage and estrangement can last a lifetime. In our Season 8 launch episode, we hear firsthand from Victor Dohleman, a Southern California manufacturing business owner and father whose three children were taken from his life through parental alienation. For 25 years, he has fought to maintain a relationship with them, spending over $250,000 in the California court system. At the heart of this season is one grounding truth: 🧡 Put the children first. That means:• Protecting their emotional safety• Refusing to make them choose sides• Preserving stability, continuity, and love, even when it’s painful🎙️ More at thehourglasspodcast.com [thehourglasspodcast.com]
