Episode 28: "Vanderpump Rules"

Well, it's official. We've sunk to all new lows over here at the Insatiable Content Podcast. Due to external pressures, I've not only been watching the 10th season of "Vanderpump Rules", but I'm actually up on ALL the gossip of Scandoval. So up on it in fact that I'm podding about it with none other than Kate Simon (we apologize to all the listeners expecting something more high-brow -- normal programming will return next week with a complete breakdown of the post-modern thematic overlaps of Infinite Jest and Gravity's Rainbow). Even more embarrassing? There's a strong case that this is some of the most compelling, meta, and thought-provoking (I can't believe I just used that phrase) reality TV ever. This season turned the mirror of reality TV around on itself, with the audience becoming more knowledge than the characters on the show about what was happening in their lives. The result is a fascinating front row seat to witness how striving, D-list stars respond to real events that impact their real lives and breakdown the fourth wall of reality TV. I couldn't turn away and this is worth talking about it. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself to ease the shame of liking this show (again, I want to point out I was FORCED to watch this). We've returned! We only podcast when Vincent is 100% Vincent, and thankfully I was today because we discussed one of my favorite topics — the NBA Playoffs. The playoffs are starting up and I was joined by Alex Jarrell and Daniel Meekins to give one thing each of us are looking forward to in every first round series. We covered a lot, so get ready for some wild takes, including Jokic slander, Westbrook fluffing, Trey Young hairline jokes, and a lot of Durant worship. Noted Channing Tatum connoisseur Kate Simon returns to discuss "Magic Mike's Last Dance", the third and final movie in the Magic Mike trilogy. This episode gets especially steamy as we go long on using furniture to support your dance moves, critiques on my dancing and voice work, Last Dance's utterly preposterous plot, and why it's so hard not to love these movies (yep, that language was VERY intentional). Plus, Kate attempts to justify JIF as a viable food product to varying degrees of success.

In the latest episode of "The Insatiable Content Podcast", I'm joined by my friend and returning guest, Eric Cherrie, to discuss the confrontational, bizarrely fantastic, and borderline indescribable third season of Donald Glover's "Atlanta". The show continues to be unlike anything else on TV and this season sets new standards for directly challenging its audience. We go episode by episode to talk about the myriad ways Glover approaches racism, and whether the one-off nature of many of the episodes this season left us dissatisfied.
