What is the Role of God’s Word Amidst Trials?

Because God alone is worthy of our trust (Isaiah 7-35), we can maintain confidence by His Word through trials (36:1-3) and temptations to put our faith in what we can see (36:4-22). Isaiah 37:5-7 5 When the servants of King Hezekiah came to Isaiah, 6 Isaiah said to them, “Say to your master, ‘Thus says the Lord: Do not be afraid because of the words that you have heard, with which the young men of the king of Assyria have reviled me. 7 Behold, I will put a spirit in him, so that he shall hear a rumor and return to his own land, and I will make him fall by the sword in his own land.’”

What is Unique about Christian Joy?

When God avenges the nations that have opposed Him (Isa 34:1-4) and His people (Isa 34:5-17), we who have endured will sing for joy in our God (Isa 35:1-10).

Why can Christians be Confident in Crises?

God has revealed that He will rule in righteousness (32:1-8), condemning the arrogant and oppressors as we hope in Him (32:9-33:16) and look to Him as our saving King (33:17-24).

Although godly women, like all of us, will experience times of trouble (1 Sam 1:1-11) the right response can bring confidence through the difficulty (1 Sam 1:12-19), enabling us by God's Spirit to be obedient to His will and rejoice in His work (1 Sam 1:20-2:2).

Why is God jealous for our Trust?

It is foolish to place our confidence in the created and reject God (30:1-17), since God is jealous to care for His people and curse their foes (30:18-33), so that He is celebrated among us (31:1-9). Isa 30:15-18 CSB 15 For the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, has said: “You will be delivered by returning and resting; your strength will lie in quiet confidence. But you are not willing.” 16 You say, “No! We will escape on horses”— therefore you will escape!— and, “We will ride on fast horses”— but those who pursue you will be faster. 17 One thousand will flee at the threat of one, at the threat of five you will flee, until you remain like a solitary pole on a mountaintop or a banner on a hill. 18 Therefore the Lord is waiting to show you mercy, and is rising up to show you compassion, for the Lord is a just God. All who wait patiently for him are happy.
