The Outdoorpreneur
Big thanks to Matt Guertin at Borealis Wool Co [https://www.borealiswoolco.com] for sitting down with us today. For those that don't know, Borealis Wool Co is a wool apparel company based out of Minneapolis, MN. Matt has done a great job at building a grassroots business that truly relies on the quality of their product versus the mighty fist of marketing. Matt has a background in landscape design and he has magically transformed those skillsets into running an apparel business as well as designing apparel. The entrepreneurial journey can go in all different directions but for many of us, we still have to work the grind of a full time job on top of our obligations to our businesses. Matt is still a full time landscaper and devotes time to keeping Borealis afloat when he can. During a year of so much uncertainty with a global pandemic, Borealis managed to nearly double their sales. For that, I've got to give a huge kudos to them. What inspired me most in this episode was his persistence in not taking no for an answer. He traveled to Auckland to meet with the very company that wouldn't return his phone calls. He sourced his own wool, designed his own textiles, and has them hand sewn in the Minneapolis area. You can check them out on their website at Borealis Wool Co [https://www.borealiswoolco.com] This episode is sponsored by Cold Case Gear [//www.coldcasegear.com] makers of ultralight and ultra insulating outdoor accessories. Keep your food from melting and your beers ice cold this summer with their innovative aerogel outdoor gear. Untether From Temperature with Cold Case Gear.
