An Interview With "PublicLandsHateYou"

Thank you for tuning into the podcast! On this episode we speak with the man behind the Instagram account, Publiclandshateyou. This account was created to try and combat the misuse and exploitation of our public lands. There is no doubt that our country harbors some of the most amazing sites in the world but due to increased pressure and traffic from tourism, many of these pristine areas are being left in a not so pristine condition.  We discuss Leave No Trace [https://lnt.org] and other ways that you can minimize your impact on the environment. Is social media responsible for the rise in both visitation and destruction of public lands? We happen to think so. Is Geotagging good or bad? There is no doubt that geotagging locations has made it much easier for people to access wilderness areas. If you must geotag your location consider tagging the ranger district that you're in so you can encourage people to find out more information. Is geotagging safe? Listen to the episode to find out! As always, this podcast is brought to you by Cold Case Gear [//www.coldcasegear.com], makers of the West Slope Case [https://coldcasegear.com/collections/aerogel-electronics/products/west-slope-case], an indestructible phone case.

Seek Outside With Kevin Timm

Welcome to this episode of The Outdoorpreneur Podcast! On this episode we sat down with Kevin Timm of Seek Outside and we learned a bit about their origin story and their approach to marketing and building their brand. A common thread amongst all the entrepreneurs that I have spoken to is having the courage and the perseverance to be able to follow your gut. Most likely, you are going to be met with resistance when you decide to either start your own business, or, like Kevin, introduce something brand new to the world.  Recently, Seek Outside introduced a revolutionary Zipperless tent! That's right. They have a patented zipper less enclosure mechanism designed to not only reduce weight but increase durability and reliability. This is huge.  Kevin left us with some grating parting wisdom. Go ahead and check out the episode to see what he had to say.  This episode is brought to you by Cold Case Gear, makers of ultralight and ultra insulating outdoor accessories. They offer best in class thermal phone protection that is also completely weatherproof. Cold Case Gear invites you to Untether From Temperature. Their gear is Made In The USA, and built on purpose.

episode The Outdoorpreneur with Matt at Borealis Wool Co. artwork

The Outdoorpreneur with Matt at Borealis Wool Co.

Big thanks to Matt Guertin at Borealis Wool Co [https://www.borealiswoolco.com] for sitting down with us today. For those that don't know, Borealis Wool Co is a wool apparel company based out of Minneapolis, MN. Matt has done a great job at building a grassroots business that truly relies on the quality of their product versus the mighty fist of marketing. Matt has a background in landscape design and he has magically transformed those skillsets into running an apparel business as well as designing apparel.  The entrepreneurial journey can go in all different directions but for many of us, we still have to work the grind of a full time job on top of our obligations to our businesses. Matt is still a full time landscaper and devotes time to keeping Borealis afloat when he can. During a year of so much uncertainty with a global pandemic, Borealis managed to nearly double their sales. For that, I've got to give a huge kudos to them.  What inspired me most in this episode was his persistence in not taking no for an answer. He traveled to Auckland to meet with the very company that wouldn't return his phone calls. He sourced his own wool, designed his own textiles, and has them hand sewn in the Minneapolis area. You can check them out on their website at Borealis Wool Co [https://www.borealiswoolco.com]  This episode is sponsored by Cold Case Gear [//www.coldcasegear.com] makers of ultralight and ultra insulating outdoor accessories. Keep your food from melting and your beers ice cold this summer with their innovative aerogel outdoor gear. Untether From Temperature with Cold Case Gear.
