POV: "JERRY MAGUIRE"

Hello… “You complete me.” For this episode, we dive headfirst into ‘Jerry Maguire’, as Lauren Drake experiences the film for the very first time. From the iconic mission statement and unforgettable one liners to the messy relationships, emotional gut punches, and behind the scenes stories that made this movie a classic; we break down everything that makes Jerry’s inspirational journey still hit decades later. We quote our favorite moments, react to absurd reviews, debate the romance, celebrate Tom Cruise at his (debatable) peak charisma, and ask the important question… did this movie secretly ruin all of our expectations for love, friendship, and careers or did it show us to take the risk to make it all worthwhile!? Tune in now and shout “SHOW ME THE PODCAST”!  ___________________ Subscribe to The Reaction Shot Podcast on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon, or wherever you listen. CLOSE UP: Greg Glienna (Original 'Meet The Parents'; Writer, Director, & Actor)

In this episode, I sit down with Greg Glienna; the writer, director, actor, and creator of the original 1992 indie feature film 'Meet the Parents' that Hollywood rarely acknowledges. Years before the Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro blockbuster, Greg made a dark, awkward black comedy for about $30k. What began as an improv bit about meeting an intimidating father-in-law became an indie film that later inspired one of the biggest comedy franchises of the 2000s. We get into the origins of that first film, how wildly different it was from the studio remake, and what it felt like to watch a tiny feature project morph into a global hit. We also talk about Greg’s career beyond 'Meet the Parents', the realities of indie filmmaking, and the tricky balance between creative ownership and mainstream success. Forget the parents, let's meet Greg. ________________________________ *Check out the FULL FEATURE 'Meet the Parents' here: https://youtu.be/OwbKkAvL_wE?si=85nzYlWFPmArTpXH *Subscribe to Greg Glienna's YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@filmmekker *Purchase the 'Meet the Parents Story' book by Laura Enright on Amazon here: https://a.co/d/04Ioi5Oo *Subscribe to my Youtube channel, The Reaction Shot Podcast, and Like and Follow the show on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon, or wherever you like to listen. *Season 3 intro music by Playsound *If you're feeling extra kind, drop a five-star review. *Check out the merch store too! POV: “SCREAM 3”

Join returning guest, Lauren Drake and I as we discuss her first viewing of ‘SCREAM 3’. The chaos starts immediately; together we dive deep into the film’s tonal shift, the Hollywood satire, the characters, and all of the behind the scenes drama that shaped one of the franchise’s most debated entries. Listen to Lauren’s disbelief, laughter, shock, and genuine confusion at some of the revelations. We unpack all the rewrites, last minute castings, production troubles, meta humor, and killer reveal. This episode is a fun ride for both fans and haters of 2000s controversial entry, ‘SCREAM 3’. __________________________ Subscribe to my Youtube channel, The Reaction Shot Podcast, and Like and Follow the show on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon, or wherever you like to listen. episode IN MEMORIAM: James Van Der Beek artwork

IN MEMORIAM: James Van Der Beek

In this special tribute episode, guest Brittany Cunningham and I reflect on the life, career, and lasting impact of James Van Der Beek. Though we never knew him personally, his work shaped a generation; especially through Dawson’s Creek and the character of Dawson Leery. At least for me. We talk about how Dawson represented something rare at the time which is a male character who felt deeply, questioned everything, and made emotional honesty feel meaningful. For many of us, he was more than a TV character, he was a companion through some of our most formative years. We also look back on James’s wider career, the humility he carried through fame, the love and honor he shared with his family, and the sincerity that made him feel like more than just a performer. This episode is a conversation about legacy, connection, family, love, and the strange, real grief that can come from losing someone who helped shape your story, even if you never met them. Rest Easy, James. This one is for you. —————— Subscribe to my Youtube channel, The Reaction Shot Podcast, and Like and Follow the show on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon, or wherever you like to listen.
