Interview with Coach Jimmy Overhiser (Mercyhurst University)

In this episode, we sit down with Jimmy Overhiser, the newly appointed head coach of the Mercyhurst University Wrestling Program, as he steps into the role following the retirement of longtime head coach Mike Wehler.Overhiser joins Mercyhurst after a successful run at Drexel University, where he served as an assistant coach during the 2024 season and helped lead the Dragons to the highest conference finish in program history with a second place finish. Prior to Drexel, he coached at Army during the 2023 season, playing a pivotal role in securing two nationally ranked recruiting classes. Earlier in his career, Overhiser was part of Reinhardt University’s (NAIA) historic run toward its first-ever national title, coaching three All-Americans along the way.A native of Bradford, New York, Overhiser is a product of Wyoming Seminary, where he was a National Prep All-American and helped capture the program’s first-ever team National Prep Championship. He also competed at Lansing High School, where he was a State Champion.At the collegiate level, Overhiser wrestled at Cornell University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture, Art, and Urban Planning while competing throughout his college career.This conversation dives into his coaching journey, leadership philosophy, recruiting approach, and vision for the future of Mercyhurst wrestling.It was an absolute blast of an episode to film with some incredible insight you won't want to miss!Want more Content? Welcome Kosta Koufalis to the Takeover! On this new episode of the RB Show we have Kosta Koufalis of Iona Prep. Koufalis was a 3x CHSAA Sectional Finalist capping his career with a CHSAA Sectional Championship in 2024, as well as a Bronze Finish at the NYS Championships. In this episode, Koufalis shares how his wrestling journey began, how he was able to constantly improve, as well as how the Iona Prep, Empire Wrestling Academy, and the CHSAA’s faith in him helped him push to achieve his goal at the NYS Championships.

Interview with Paolo Ciatto

Welcome Paolo Ciatto of Iona Prep to the Takeover! Paolo was a Catholic State Champ in 2023 as only a sophomore and was the youngest in his bracket at the state tournament. Ciatto is also an all time leader for the Gaels not only in total number of wins but in pins as well. Out of 147 career matches Ciatto won 101 of them by fall. On this week’s episode Paolo talks about how his wrestling journey started, overcoming the adversity of his shoulder injury, and how previous Empire/Iona Prep Wrestlers paved the way for him.
