The Style Adjacent Podcast
When it comes to celebration, empowerment and encouragement of Chicano culture and community, Elvira Zamora is the resident queen. She is the founder of Chicano Elegance, an artistic movement rooted in honoring and commemorating the rich beauty, fashion history and overall style of the Chicano culture, people and history. Elvira is rooted in the business of fashion, but was feeling discouraged with the lack of representation in the industry; as a gesture of resistance to counter act the cultural appropriation she saw proliferating the fashion trade, she created the Chicano Elegance Gala, highlighting incredible Chicano and Latino creatives, giving them a platform for their work to be cherished and celebrated. While the organization is rooted in Los Angeles, the vibe is nationwide, with galas being executed on both coasts. She is currently doing a Southern California tour to promote her coffee table book, Chicano Elegance, showcasing stunning images from galas on both coasts, celebrating the very best of Chicano culture and community. She is also co-hosting "Cruisin' Colorado," with Pasadena staple, Tepito Coffee, promising an afternoon of lowriders, Chicano fashion, poetry and cultural performances.
