Today on The Unscripted Woman Podcast, we're speaking to Dr. Cameo Green Coleman. She shares her experience being a nurse practitioner during the pandemic, including the losses she suffered. We are also discussing the importance of telehealth medicine, particularly for those in a rural community. We touch on medical issues affecting today's health care system, as well as what the next steps in health care might look like. Dr. Cameo Green Coleman, a native of Columbia, South Carolina, began her collegiate studies at age 17 at the University of South Carolina before earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from USC Upstate in 2007. She went on to complete two Master of Science in Nursing degrees and a Doctor of Nursing Practice at the Medical University of South Carolina, where she was recognized as a First Honor Graduate (Valedictorian), Presidential Scholar, and Fellow. Her doctoral work focused on strengthening heart-failure care for rural communities. Dr. Coleman is nationally certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and brings over 11 years of experience as a doctoral-prepared FNP, along with more than five years of clinical practice in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatry. She recently earned her Post-Graduate Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certificate from Purdue Global University, where she was inducted as a Presidential Member of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS). She is certified as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-C). Dr. Coleman is the founder and owner of WholePath 360 Family and Mental Care, LLC, a practice where she provides telehealth services to patients in multiple states, focusing on whole-person mental and family health care. She is also a Certified Human Rights Consultant through the U.S. Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights in Washington, DC, and serves as an Ambassador for Sick Cells, advocating for individuals and families impacted by sickle cell disease. A respected speaker and community advocate, Dr. Coleman has presented at schools, universities, and civic events, including the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration in Hopkins, South Carolina. She was recognized as the Top Healthcare Provider in 2020 by Columbia, Greenville, and Charleston Business Magazines and named a “Midlands Woman on the Move.” Her biography is archived in the Richland County Library’s Black History Collection.
