I Thessalonians 5:1-11

He now transitions from what they did not know, the rapture of the church, to what they do know, the Day of the Lord. All teaching regarding the return of Christ should bring comfort to us as believers. Not only should it bring comfort, but it should build us up in our walk with Jesus. Any believer not comforted or edified by the knowledge of the return of Christ should be a concern.  May we all truly walk with the Lord in these last of the last days. May we all truly comfort and build one another up based on the truth found in Jesus and His word. Zechariah 12

It begins with God affirming His power, sovereignty and the fact that He alone is the infinite, almighty creator of everything seen and unseen. This is critical as these prophesies unfold.  One thing that stands out concerning Israel in the last days is that the whole world will be against her. The whole world will seek her destruction. But Israel belongs to God. Throughout this passage we see God saying "I will" on behalf of Israel Israel cannot be defeated. Every nation that comes up against Israel will be defeated because the God of Israel fights on her behalf. Terms and Interpretations

Hermeneutics is a big word that simply means how we study and interpret the scriptures. From this we were able to take a biblical look at the distinction between Israel and the church. All of this is critical if we are to have a correct biblical view of prophesy. This week, we came back to topical technical study rather than our normal verse by verse. In this study we looked at several prophetic terms, the millennium, the second advent and the rapture of the church. From here we looked at the different interpretations concerning the timing of the rapture. This was an overview utilizing good hermeneutics.  Why do we take the time to do this? So that you will know why you believe what you believe according to the scriptures. We don't want you to a person who says, "this is what my pastor says" or "this is what my pastor believes". We want you to be a person who says, "this is what the bible says". I Thessalonians 4:13-18

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/1861966/fan_mail/new] This passage along with I Corinthians 15:50-58 are the foundation for the doctrine of the rapture. This is a doctrine that falls under eschatology, the biblical study surrounding the return of Jesus. While the rapture sadly is surrounded by some controversy, in truth, it should not be. A solid study of the scriptures reveals with great clarity this wonderful doctrine.  As Paul delivers this passage to the Thessalonians, he tells them that is meant to bring them comfort. It is meant to comfort us in the days that we are living. As we study the rapture of the church, may we all receive comfort from it. Maranatha!
