Tracy Gatewood's Sacred Ramblings
Palm Sunday is a day that we celebrate Christ's triumphal entry into the city of Jerusalem, a day where throngs lined the street, waving palm branches and shouting Hosanna! Hosanna! Following this great day of celebration, 5 short days later, Jesus was mercilessly beaten beyond recognition, publicly crucified, and hung naked from a tree. Jesus was not the Rabbinical priest's idea of the Messiah, one who would return to rescue them from the cruel Roman rulers that oppressed the Jewish people. They were looking for a warrior, a "King David", that was bold, and powerful that could subdue the existing government and return the Jewish people back to power. Jesus of Nazareth, in their mind, could never be the true Messiah but as we know the priests and leaders made a profound miscalculation. He most certainly did return on a rescue mission, resulting in the greatest reset in human history. This reset was an assignment of grace and mercy requiring as ransom His sinless blood and body. In today's broadcast, in addition to a reading of Jesus the Unlikely King, I recount the story of a "divine sign" that points to what is coming soon.
