Genesis Chapter 5

In our last chapter, we looked at the first murder in history (which didn’t even take place against an enemy but rather over jealousy and in the same blood related family). We saw the chances for Cain to continuously make the right choice, and his rejection to God’s providence and forgiveness, ultimately leading to his exile and his separation from God. We are then introduced to the salvation lineage of Seth, leaving us with hope for the future generations to come. In this chapter, we will be reading a lot about the lineage of Adam. Honestly, that is pretty much all this chapter focuses on, so I am going to use this as an opportunity to define the names that are given so we have a clear idea and representation of this lineage coming out of Adam and Eve, and how it leads to the story of salvation through Jesus Christ.
