Having Progressive Coaching discussions can be really uncomfortable. When drafting and delivering progressive coaching discussions, approach it with empathy and a common goal to grow. Performance Improvement Plan (PIP): Preparation: Establish a realistic timeline (30, 60, or 90 days) and clear goals. Schedule regular check-ins. Drafting: Partner with HR if needed. Clearly define behavior changes, impact, expectations, timeline, and consequences. Delivery: Have a private, collaborative conversation to create a path forward and define necessary support. Document and obtain the team member's signature within 24 hours. Submission: Submit the PIP to HR and involve them in the process.
