The Discipline of Spiritual Maturity
The Discipline of Spiritual Maturity
Teaching & Prayer with Overseer Azizah Morrison
Continuing the June series, Mature Christianity, this teaching explores one of the most overlooked components of spiritual growth: discipline.
Drawing from Hebrews 12:11, 1 Corinthians 9:24–27, and 2 Timothy 2:15, Overseer Azizah Morrison teaches that spiritual maturity is not developed through inspiration alone, but through consistent obedience, correction, faithfulness, and spiritual discipline.
This lesson challenges believers to move beyond emotional Christianity and embrace the process of formation. It examines the difference between spiritual childhood and spiritual maturity, revealing how God uses correction, accountability, and discipline to shape the character of Christ within His people.
Listeners are reminded that maturity is not simply about knowing more Scripture or spending more years in church. True maturity is demonstrated through teachability, consistency, endurance, obedience, and a willingness to cooperate with the work of the Holy Spirit.
The accompanying prayer asks God for hearts that receive instruction, grace to remain faithful in private places, strength to resist spiritual complacency, and wisdom to recognize His hand at work during seasons of stretching and development.
This is a call to embrace the process of becoming—not merely informed believers, but mature disciples who reflect the character, faithfulness, and nature of Jesus Christ.
