How Can I Shift From Monologue into Dialogue?

We begin by grounding and orienting together followed by continued exploration of being in relationship to others by looking a the difference between monologing and dialoging. Have you ever listened to someone and had the felt sense that they were talking at you rather than with you? Have you ever been listening to someone recognizing your formulating your reply more than you're listening to them? Today we look at how the experiences of the questions above are examples of monologue. We then look at some common beliefs people hold about practicing dialogue as well as a process to support you in engaging dialogically with others. Rather than criticizing, silencing, or succumbing to our inner critic, we can listen to them and offer compassion. We then explore a practice for cultivating self-compassion. How Do I Engage with Others on this Journey?

We begin by grounding and orienting together followed by shifting our attention from our inner selves to the people in our lives. Today we look at how to wholly listen to others in order to begin a dialogical process. I share the five touch points method that Dr. Janet Stauffer engages when she considers who to be wholly present to herself and others. We look at what this process looks like as we are with those in our lives. Part Two Grief is Part of Healing: What are Some Ambiguous Losses I May Encounter and How Can I Befriend my Sorrow

We begin by grounding and orienting together followed by a continuation of our exploration of grief being part of the healing process. Today we identify some of the places we experience ambiguous losses. What are some of the wilderness markers or "Gates of Grief" that we can encounter? Francis Weller writes about four gates of grief humans face that are beyond losing those we love. Today we identify those gates and look for ways we can befriend our sorrow. We also explore how facing and feeling into this grief helps us to cultivate kindness. episode Grief is Part of Healing: Recognizing the Ambiguous Losses that Come with Growth artwork

Grief is Part of Healing: Recognizing the Ambiguous Losses that Come with Growth

We begin by grounding and orienting together followed by a recognition that ambiguous loss and grief are part of the healing process. Even when we move toward our desire, we let go of and lose something. For self-growth, I think of the equation change=loss/loss=grief/grief=growth In this episode, we name that grief is not a problem to solve or fix. Grief often is comprised of a wide array of emotions. We explore the many emotions that can come with grief and also look at the spiritual gift that these emotions offer when we listen to the emotions.
