Year 3 Weekly News - Matthew Flinders 2026
We’ve had a wonderful week in Year 3 and thoroughly enjoyed our Street Science incursion. Students were excited to explore the school grounds as they identified living things and investigated them using digital microscopes. The workshop introduced students to observing and describing scientific features of animals and plants—skills we will continue to build on throughout our upcoming Impact unit of work. Communication with teachers A reminder to families that any urgent messages during the school day should be directed to Primary Administration. As teachers, we are often teaching and supervising students and may not be able to read or respond to emails promptly. This includes time-sensitive messages such as changes to pick-up arrangements or uniform queries. Thank you for your understanding and support. Accelerated Reader Thank you for supporting your child to read at home and for recording their reading in their diary. We are aware that many families have wonderful home libraries, and students are often keen to read these books as part of their Accelerated Reader goals. The website below, AR Bookfinder, may be helpful in checking whether books you already have at home also have an Accelerated Reader quiz available for students to complete. https://www.arbookfind.com.au/ [https://www.arbookfind.com.au/] Homework A friendly reminder to please support your child in recording their daily reading in their school diary. Regular reading and accurate recording helps build responsibility and allows us to monitor progress. Please also ensure that completed homework is brought to school on Friday each week. It is important that homework is handed in on Friday so it can be marked and prepared for the following week. In addition, please refer to the XtraMath flyer for instructions on how to log in and connect to the new Year 3 account. Following the steps carefully will ensure your child is correctly linked. Thank you for your continued support.
