His inspiration came from his great grandmother and singing in the church along with cowboy church which he explains. His family are all rodeo athletes, and he competed in steer wrestling and still on occasion does a little team roping. When he is home, he shoes horses, builds fences and talks about being an accomplished farrier.  He mainly writes on airplane rides, at home on the porch and of course in Nashville with great writers. His 2018 singles, “What Would Jesus Do”, “That Ain’t My Church” & “Thank God” were all #1 on the Christian Country Charts. He talks about his LP: “Whiskey to Work” and being a storyteller in his writing. Check the link in the show notes for his documentary: North State Roots about his living in Red Bluff, CA.
