The chaos in our lives far outweighs the peace The peace we long for at Christmas is available to each of us every day of the year. Peace is a gift from Jesus. The peace of God is experiencing wholeness and enjoying life as it was meant to be Jesus came to make us whole. Prayer opens the gift of peace. Jesus gives us peace so we can reflect his peace to the world. The peace of God is the real gift that keeps on giving… the whole year. Christmas offers a taste of the life Jesus brings—real hope, peace, and joy now and forever. __________ Welcome to Crosscreek Community Church’s Podcast channel! Located in the Pacific Northwest, Crosscreek Community Church offers a welcoming online church community for those on a journey to discover their meaning in life, explore their doubts, ask questions, and discover more about God, Jesus, Christianity, the Bible, and more. __________ If you’re new to the Crosscreek community check out our website for some helpful info… https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/ [https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/] Main Ideas: There’s something about Christmas that makes us long for what is “supposed to be.” Christmas is a taste of the life Jesus offers. Hope lets us experience Christmas every day. God promised he would make everything as it’s supposed to be. God kept his promise through a baby in a manager. Jesus was the fulfillment of Israel’s hope and is the source of our hope now. The resurrection of Jesus is the foundation of real hope. One day EVERYTHING will be as it’s supposed to be. Hoping for God’s tomorrow gives us peace and joy today. We can have real hope because Jesus keeps every promise. Invitation: Let real hope shape your real life. – Read: 1 Peter 1:6 – Practice saying: What is “supposed to be” will one day be. Discussion Questions: 1. What are your favorite and least favorite aspects of Christmas, and why? 2. How do you relate to the idea of longing for life to be “as it’s supposed to be,” especially during the holiday season? 3. What does “hope” mean to you, and how does that compare to the “living hope” described in 1 Peter 1:3-6? 4. What are some practical ways you can live out the hope of Christmas in your daily life? 5. How can your group pray with you this week? __________ 📜 |TRANSCRIPT → https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/media/2024-12-08.pdf [https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/media/2024-12-08.pdf] 🍞 | GATHER TOGETHER → https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/gathering [https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/gathering] | 4:30pm on Sundays. 👋 | SAY HI → https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/welcome/ [https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/welcome/] 👨👩👧👦 | JOIN A GROUP → https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/connect [https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/connect] 🤝 | DONATE TO CROSSCREEK → https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/donate/ [https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/donate/]
Jesus’ unwavering love transforms our failures into opportunities for restoration and purpose. __________ If you’re new to the Crosscreek community check out our website for some helpful info… https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/ [https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/] Main Ideas: God wants us to know him and enjoy him today and forever. It’s impossible to enjoy God when we’re convinced he’s mad at us. Nothing we do can make God let go of us. We can have the best intentions in the world and still fail miserably. The most painful failures are the ones that reveal who we really are. Jesus’ love for us isn’t based on what we do, but whose we are… his. Jesus doesn’t use his authority and power to judge and condemn but to serve and love. Jesus’ commitment to us gives us the space and ability to grow from our failures. Reconciliation has always been and will always be God’s goal. Our failures aren’t the end. They’re where Jesus begins His greatest work in us. Invitation: Read Romans 8:33-39 Accept Jesus’ unending love. Offer Jesus’ unending love. Discussion Questions: 1. What sticks out to you, encourages, or excites you about this week’s message? What makes you uncomfortable, seems untrue, frustrates, or confuses you? 2. How do you typically respond to failure—do you tend to run, hide, or try to fix things on your own? 3. Read Romans 8:33-39. What thoughts and/or feelings come up for you? 4. What would it look like to live in a way that embraces God’s unending love and offers it to others this week? 5. How can your group pray with you this week? __________ 📜 |TRANSCRIPT → https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/media/2024-11-24.pdf [https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/media/2024-11-24.pdf] 🍞 | GATHER TOGETHER → https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/gathering [https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/gathering] | 4:30pm on Sundays. 👋 | SAY HI → https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/welcome/ [https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/welcome/] 👨👩👧👦 | JOIN A GROUP → https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/connect [https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/connect] 🤝 | DONATE TO CROSSCREEK → https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/donate/ [https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/donate/]
We discover unshakable peace, freedom, and purpose when we surrender to the eternal Kingdom of God. __________ If you’re new to the Crosscreek community check out our website for some helpful info… https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/ [https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/] Main Ideas: We try to control our fear by creating our own personal kingdoms. Relying on our own kingdoms only creates more fear and conflict. We are invited to let go and live in the Kingdom of God. Fighting for our own kingdoms causes us to pick stupid fights. When we try to rule our own kingdoms we inflate our own importance. The Kingdom of God is God ruling in the hearts, minds, and lives of his people. In the Kingdom of God, we are free to enjoy the king and his kingdom. The Kingdom of God is the only Kingdom that lasts forever. When we live for our own kingdoms we lose who we really are. When we live for the Kingdom of God we find true life we can never lose. Invitation: Focus on the true King and his Kingdom by reading and praying Matthew 6:9-13 Ask: Who’s kingdom am I living for? Mine or God’s? Discussion Questions: 1. What sticks out to you, encourages, or excites you about this week’s message? What makes you uncomfortable, seems untrue, frustrates, or confuses you? 2. What are some “sandcastles” we try to build for a sense of control or security? 3. Read Matthew 6:9-13. How could reading and praying this regularly help us let go and live in and for God’s Kingdom? 4. What’s one area of life where you feel God is calling you to let go of control? 5. How can your group pray with you this week? __________ 📜 |TRANSCRIPT → https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/media/2024-11-17.pdf [https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/media/2024-11-17.pdf] 🍞 | GATHER TOGETHER → https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/gathering [https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/gathering] | 4:30pm on Sundays. 👋 | SAY HI → https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/welcome/ [https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/welcome/] 👨👩👧👦 | JOIN A GROUP → https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/connect [https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/connect] 🤝 | DONATE TO CROSSCREEK → https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/donate/ [https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/donate/]
Jesus’ radical example of loving our enemies, even those who betray us, shows us how to experience the transformative power of love over fear and hatred. __________ If you’re new to the Crosscreek community check out our website for some helpful info… https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/ [https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/] Main Ideas: The voices around us have been desperately trying to convince us we have enemies all around us. Loving our enemies seems like the stupidest, most unproductive thing in the world. Jesus changed the world by insisting on loving his enemies. Empathy opens the door to love. Loving our enemies is a conscious choice to purposely do good for them. Love pursues reconciliation over winning. Jesus died to love his enemies. We make excuses and don’t even try loving our enemies because we’re afraid. When we are free of fear we are free to love our enemies. When we love our enemies, we become a part of God’s mission of reconciliation. Invitation: Read Romans 12:14-21 Pray, “Let me see my enemy(ies) through your eyes.” Find one way to purposely love an enemy this week. Discussion Questions: 1. In what ways do you think our culture encourages us to see others as enemies? 2. What does empathy mean to you, and why might it be important in learning to love our enemies? 3. Read Romans 12:14-21 What fears come up when you think about loving your enemies? Why do you think we often resist this teaching? 4. What is one practical way you could love an “enemy” in your life this week? 5. How can your group pray with you this week? __________ 📜 |TRANSCRIPT → https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/media/2024-11-10.pdf [https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/media/2024-11-10.pdf] 🍞 | GATHER TOGETHER → https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/gathering [https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/gathering] | 4:30pm on Sundays. 👋 | SAY HI → https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/welcome/ [https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/welcome/] 👨👩👧👦 | JOIN A GROUP → https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/connect [https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/connect] 🤝 | DONATE TO CROSSCREEK → https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/donate/ [https://www.yourcrosscreek.com/donate/]
