Title: This Is Our Story Author: Ashley Elston Narrator: Amy Melissa Bentley, Eric Michael Summerer Format: Unabridged Length: 8 hrs and 47 mins Language: English Release date: 11-21-17 Publisher: Tantor Audio Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 10 votes Genres: Teens, Mysteries & Thrillers Publisher's Summary: No one knows what happened that morning at River Point. Five boys went hunting. Four came back. The boys won't say who fired the shot that killed their friend, Grant; the evidence shows it could have been any one of them. Kate Marino's senior year internship at the District Attorney's Office isn't exactly glamorous - more like an excuse to leave school early that looks good on college applications. Then the DA hands her boss, Mr. Stone, the biggest case her small town of Belle Terre has ever seen. The River Point Boys are all anyone can talk about. Despite their damning toxicology reports the morning of the accident, the DA wants the boys' case swept under the rug. He owes his political office to their powerful families. Kate won't let that happen. Digging up secrets without revealing her own is a dangerous line to walk; Kate has personal reasons for seeking justice for Grant. As she investigates with Stone - the aging prosecutor relying on Kate to see and hear what he cannot - she realizes that nothing about the case - or the boys - is what it seems. Grant wasn't who she thought he was, and neither is Stone's prime suspect. Members Reviews: An okay mystery that's really a romance. The narrator wasn't the worst I've heard but most characters sounded the same, at least teh male characters did. I gave the book an extra star because of Mr. Stone and his impairment. Story-wise... the presentation wasn't the best and I couldn't connect with any of the characters and they seemed insubstantial. There wasn't any foundation or context for the characters or why we should care about them. I did want to know who the killer was but I found myself skipping to the end of the story. While I won't give away the ending, how Kate got there was pretty contrived and very Perry Mason like. The reason for the killing was clear enough but again it lacked the context of any backstory. I suppose the backstory was given in snippets at the start/end of the various chapters but these just didn't hold my attention. The only other thing I'll say is that how Kate hooked up with who she did was so far fetched, especially given what this person did, was barely a step above the insta-love many YA novels feature.

Title: Follow Me Subtitle: The Amateurs, Book 2 Author: Sara Shepard Narrator: Renee Chambliss Format: Unabridged Length: 8 hrs and 40 mins Language: English Release date: 11-07-17 Publisher: Recorded Books Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 7 votes Genres: Teens, Mysteries & Thrillers Publisher's Summary: It was the perfect night for a party. That is, until 21-year-old Chelsea Dawson disappeared. The social media star was last seen enjoying a beautiful summer night at the Jersey Shore with her friends. But after an explosive fight with her ex-boyfriend, she vanished without a trace. When Seneca, Maddox, Aerin, and Madison hear about the suspected kidnapping, they notice a jarring detail about the victim: she looks exactly like Aerin's sister, Helena, who was killed five years earlier. Seneca is convinced she knows who killed Helena, and she can't shake the feeling that the same person has taken Chelsea. Desperate for answers about the two girls, and the truth behind her mother's murder, Seneca will stop at nothing to find out if the cases are linked. So when Maddox receives an invitation to the Shore from none other than their primary suspect, the Amateurs begin an intense new investigation. Full of disturbing secrets, startling twists, and horrifying revelations, the second book in number one New York Times best-selling author Sara Shepard's The Amateurs series follows the team down a twisted path - one crafted by a brilliant killer. Members Reviews: Thought it was a good follow up book to the first one Thought it was a good follow up book to the first one. Will keep you guessing some nice twists. Spoiler-free Review The title is on point - 'FOLLOW ME'. Follow the person who is a criminal on the loose, 'THE KILLER YOU KNOW'. In this book, Seneca and her friends track the culprit who might have kidnapped Chelsea Dawson- a popular social media teen. With all the resources they can get, the sleuths do what they do best- investigate for themselves. Keeping in mind that they're still 'amateurs', it is amazing and believable how they use technology, make deductions and unravel secrets. Like in book #1, 'THE AMATEURS', the changing of perspectives makes it even more interesting, especially when that of the primary suspect is also portrayed beautifully. In comparison, the story has less mystery. Nonetheless, it is an intense page-turner. All the shocking revelations eventually lead to an astounding cliffhanger. I recommend book #1 first, in order to appreciate the author's work thoroughly. All in all, it is the perfect sequel, filled to the brim with the superb balance between suspense and romance. great book I loved âThe Amateursâ last year and couldnât wait for the sequel to come out. I enjoyed the first book so much and I just had to know what happens next. Sara Shepard really can write amazing suspense stories. Pulled in from the very first line nothing could brake the spell and I kept reading. In this book the pace seems to be even faster than the previous, possibly because we already know the main characters. The killer seems to be everywhere always being one step ahead and Madison, Maddox, Seneca and Aerin having a hard time to keep up. It doesnât take them long to figure out, that it is the same killer they met not long ago and who got away. The ending came too fast and left me wanting more. Now I need book three asap. I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

Title: Gingerbread Man Subtitle: A Nursery Rhyme Suspense, Book 1 Author: Lee Strauss Narrator: Roger Wayne, Reba Buhr Format: Unabridged Length: 6 hrs and 40 mins Language: English Release date: 11-07-17 Publisher: Tantor Audio Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 1 votes Genres: Teens, Mysteries & Thrillers Publisher's Summary: Marlow's just a regular geeky college freshman with little to no experience with girls, so when he has a semi-flirtatious chat with a cute girl online, it's almost more than his nerves can handle. Then the girl is brutally murdered. Or is she? Marlow finds himself teamed up with intelligent and savvy Sage Farrell, a girl so far out of his league he feels blinded in her presence. Together they work to find the identity of @gingerbreadman. Can they stop the killer before he strikes IRL? Members Reviews: Loved it!! Teagan and Sage have been best friends since the 5th grade and they are now college roommates at Detroit University. Teagan is an artist who meets a guy online, Marlow, a self-proclaimed geek. Sage gets her to hang out with some friends one night and she meets a good-looking guy from one of her classes, Jake Wentworth. Pretty soon a rapist is loose on campus and Marlow starts saying things that make Teagan start to suspect him of being the rapist. Is he or is something else going on? The story is told from four points of view: Teagan, Sage, Marlow and the predator. It drew me in right away and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to find out what was going to happen next. I think I know what's happening but Lee Strauss is great at twisting her stories so that I don't see the ending coming. I haven't watched FRINGE or CASTLE but I loved this suspenseful episode of Lee Strauss's new series! Content: Since this is a novel about a predator/killer, there are rape and assault scenes, but they're not graphic. I received a copy of this book to review. My opinion is 100% my own. Nice blend of mystery and sci-fi I enjoy Ms. Strauss' books, and this one is no exception. About a third to a half of the way in, the story took a turn I didn't expect. I wasn't sure, at first, if I liked the new direction, but it turned out to be intriguing and well thought out. A touch of science (and science fiction) takes the story of a serial killer to a who!me new level. Kudos to the author for catching my attention so thoroughly! If you like a mystery with a few quirks and turns, give this first book in a new series a chance. Great read if you can be open minded. Really interesting and different mystery. I thought the parallel universe theme of the book would be sort of hokey, but by the time I finished it, I began to really wonder about things. The characters were well developed and were very different in each of the universes they came from. It sounds complicated but was very easy to follow. I did figure out the bad guy pretty early on, but since I wasn't 100% sure, it was a nice feeling to find out I was right. A great suspense story!! A great suspense story that follows Marlow and Sage as they work together to solve the mystery. This story had me on the edge of my seat with the intriguing story line and rounded characters. After finishing this book, I cannot wait to read more in this series. You'll be captivated and dragged into this story after reading the first few chapters too! ... in the Marlow and Sage series and I really enjoyed it. Lee Strauss' take on parallel realities was ... Gingerbread Man is the first book in the Marlow and Sage series and I really enjoyed it. Lee Strauss' take on parallel realities was interesting and entertaining. The main characters were likable and easy to relate to.

Devil in Ohio Audiobook by Daria Polatin

Title: Devil in Ohio Author: Daria Polatin Narrator: Cassandra Campbell Format: Unabridged Length: 7 hrs and 10 mins Language: English Release date: 11-07-17 Publisher: Audible Studios Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 3 votes Genres: Teens, Mysteries & Thrillers Publisher's Summary: When 15-year-old Jules Mathis comes home from school to find a strange girl sitting in her kitchen, her psychiatrist mother reveals that Mae is one of her patients at the hospital and will be staying with their family for a few days. But soon Mae is wearing Jules' clothes, sleeping in her bedroom, edging her out of her position on the school paper, and flirting with Jules' crush. And Mae has no intention of leaving. Then things get weird. Jules walks in on a half-dressed Mae, startled to see a pentagram carved into Mae's back. Jules pieces together clues and discovers that Mae is a survivor of the strange cult that's embedded in a nearby town. And the cult will stop at nothing to get Mae back. Critic Reviews: "Devil in Ohio kept me up until 3 a.m. with the lights on - in a good way. It's a haunting thriller for readers who like fear, humor, and heart in one package." (Meredith Goldstein, advice columnist and feature reporter for The Boston Globe, author of Chemistry Lessons) "Gripping, urgent and addictive, Devil in Ohio balances the dark exploration of cults with a compelling and often humorous take on teen social dynamics. This is the debut you won't want to miss." (Aditi Khorana, author of The Library of Fates and Mirror in the Sky) Members Reviews: A fun, thrilling read! This book was a really fun, thrilling read! I sped right through it. I loved the emotional detail of the characters, and how the author wasn't afraid of showing the darker side of Jules's feelings. I also can't believe it was based on a true story! A fun read for teens and older. Fantastic Read! Fast-paced, funny, heartfelt and suspenseful! Immediately, I felt for Jules. Her family dynamic was relatable and once Mae comes into her life and starts wearing her clothes, falling for Sebastian, I was locked in. Who is Mae? That was the driving force of the novel and it kept the pages turning. Devil worshipping? Cult? I needed to find out. I stayed up past my bedtime to keep reading this. The level of detail was incredible (the rituals and cult) and the fact that it was based on a true story gives me goosebumps writing while Iâm writing this! Suzanne, Julesâ mother, drives the plot so well. And the more Suzanne reveals about Mae, the more danger her own family is in. A killer debut novel that has gotten me so excited to read the authorâs next work! Suspenseful, intelligent story that's fun to read! Once I started this book, I could hardly wait for the weekend and uninterrupted reading time! At no point did this story drag or keep me from wanting more. The narrator, Jules, is so relatable as a young woman struggling to find her place within high school culture..and then whaaaaat?along comes creepy Mae to complicate this journey with her weirdness, mystery and beauty. Scary and compelling, Daria Polatin's book was an unexpected thriller of a read. I wished it hadn't ended I was privileged to receive an ARC hardcover of this novel and though I can't say I gravitate towards the YA genre in general, as I read Devil in Ohio I felt it was actually a strong story appropriate for all ages. It was a very quick read, which had a lot to do with the fact that it's a real page turner. I enjoyed spending time in the world of the book and with the characters, so I had to keep flipping, and I almost wished it hadn't ended.

One Was Lost Audiobook by Natalie D. Richards

Title: One Was Lost Author: Natalie D. Richards Narrator: Vanessa Johansson Format: Unabridged Length: 6 hrs and 56 mins Language: English Release date: 11-07-17 Publisher: Tantor Audio Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 2 votes Genres: Teens, Mysteries & Thrillers Publisher's Summary: Damaged, Deceptive, Dangerous, Darling. When a group of teens wake up in the woods, these words are inked onto their skin. Are they labels? A warning? They must find the truth before a killer finds them. While on a mandatory senior field trip, a flash flood cuts off Sera and three classmates from their group with no way to call for help. But they're not as alone as they thought.... Members Reviews: An amazing dark thriller 1. This story always kept me wondering and put on the edge of my seat and would not let me turn it off. 2. The narrator also did a great job for the voices of the male characters In the story 3. The general story line keeps you guessing through out the entire book always tugging your suspicions one way or the other. Less than Average of a Book I read Ms. Richards' 'Six Months Later' and it was much better than this one; I just feel like this book could've been so much greater than it was. There were clever things in it (the synopsis made it sound so interesting), but the summary had the most clever aspects in it. I will say that I didn't know who the bad person was the entire book; usually, I'm pretty good at guessing who the bad person is going to be, whether I believe it is 50% likely or I believe it 100%. I kept guessing, but I wasn't really sure who it was. I'm not saying that the person who did it wasn't on my list, but I am saying that I never was really sure whom it was while reading. SUMMARY: In the beginning of the story, six high school students are on a trip for school in the woods and, because of some weather, four are separated from the other two. Each group has a teacher that is watching over the teenagers. After going to bed the first night, the narrator, Sarah, wakes up feeling what she believes could be a hangover, despite never having had one. She notices that the tent flap is open, when she knows she closed it, and it is much later in the day than it should be. The group of four come out and realize that they've been sleeping all day, believing they've all been drugged. They all have been branded (I was never able to tell if this was marker or something else, but it definitely wasn't tattoo) with four words starting with the letter 'D:' Sarah, the narrator, is Darling, Emily has Damaged Jude has Deceptive, and Lukas has Dangerous (The other thing I didn't get about this was why they all had to start with that letter; I've read the whole book, thought about it, and still cannot come up with a reason for it). The teacher on their side, Mr. Walker, has been heavily drugged and isn't waking up. From then on, they notice various things happening and realize that they are being stalked by someone, who may be out to kill them. After finding the severed finger of the teacher from the other camp, they know that someone has ill intentions for them and have to find a way to get out of the forest alive. Vanessa Johansson, the narrator, was decent with this book; I had no issues with her male voices, which is usually the problem I have with narrators. No matter if they are male or female, they can have a really annoying sound when they are doing the opposite gender. Ms. Johansson was pretty good with her male voices. As far as telling the story, I'd give her a B+.
