It's all Greek To Me: Jesus Over Everything - Pastor Christopher Coats

Paul’s letter to the Colossians reminds us that Jesus is not just important; He is preeminent. Like the sun at the center of the solar system, Christ holds all things together. Without Him, life flies apart. With Him, everything has order and purpose. Paul writes to counter false teachings in Colossae that emphasized rules, rituals, and spiritual beings while neglecting Christ. He declares instead that Jesus is supreme over creation, the church, the believer’s life, and all things. Christ is the visible image of the invisible God, through whom everything was made. He is the head of the church, reconciling us by His blood on the cross. For believers, He is our true north, our life, our center, our peace. And He is Lord over all we do: work, family, service, and worship. The message is clear: Do not add to Jesus or subtract from Him. He is enough. When Christ is at the center, everything else falls into place. We are invited to live daily with Him as Lord, letting His word dwell in us richly, His love bind us together, and His peace rule our hearts. Truly, Jesus is over everything.

It's All Greek To Me: Alive in Christ - Pastor Christopher Coats

Have you ever reached into a pocket and found a forgotten twenty-dollar bill? For a moment you feel richer, even though it was yours all along. Spiritually, many of us live the same way. We already have incredible riches in Christ, but we forget what’s been given to us. This sermon, in It’s All Greek To Me, we’re opening the book of Ephesians, where Paul reminds us that our position in Christ is a gift, not something we earn. We were chosen before creation, redeemed by Jesus, sealed with the Holy Spirit, and made alive by grace through faith. Because of that new identity, we’re called to live differently: to put off the old life, put on the new, let God’s love reshape every relationship, and stand strong when life’s battles come. If you’ve felt spiritually dry, worn down, or stuck in survival mode, join us and rediscover the riches you already have in Jesus, and learn how to live them out every day.

It's All Greek to Me: No Other Gospel

Welcome to the fall! Ever read one of Paul’s letters and thought, What is he even talking about? You’re not alone. That’s why this Sunday we’re starting a brand-new series called It’s All Greek To Me: Understanding Paul’s Epistles. Paul’s letters are full of rich theology and practical wisdom for everyday life, but sometimes they can feel hard to follow. Together we’ll learn how to read, interpret, and apply them the way they were meant to be understood. Each week, we’ll dig into the context, the structure, and even some of the key Greek words that unlock their meaning. On Sunday, we begin with Galatians, where Paul makes a bold stand: there is no other Gospel. Whether you’ve been reading the Bible for decades or you’re just getting started, this series will give you clarity, confidence, and fresh power to live out God’s Word.

The Gospel's Greatest Hits: Generosity In Action - Pastor Christopher Coats

In 2 Corinthians 8, Paul highlights the churches of Macedonia as an example of radical generosity. Despite facing “severe affliction” and “extreme poverty,” their joy in Christ overflowed into a wealth of generosity. Their giving was not rooted in abundance, but in God’s grace. In fact, they begged Paul for the privilege of helping others, showing that true generosity doesn’t start with money but with surrender to God. Paul challenges the Corinthians, who were strong in faith, knowledge, and spiritual gifts, to also “excel in this grace of giving.” Generosity is a mark of spiritual maturity and an expression of the gospel. Just as Jesus gave everything for us, generosity reflects His sacrificial love. It reshapes our priorities by teaching us to trust God rather than our possessions. It redefines abundance by showing us that life does not consist in wealth, but in participating in God’s kingdom. And it renews our community, making the church magnetic to a watching world. The heart of gospel generosity is this: when we realize God has given us everything in Christ, we hold nothing back.
