Processing Grief - Live by Letting Go

"Processing Grief - Live by Letting Go" examines how emotional, psychological, and spiritual wounds don't simply fade but build up over time, requiring intentional care. In this episode of Southern Medicine, Randy Glick and Rodney Overstreet, CRNA, discuss the stages of grief, treatment options, emerging research, and what a supportive care team looks like. They also explore how family and friends can help, along with practical tools and resources to move forward and release what keeps us stuck. A CRNA at UAB Medical West, in Bessemer, Alabama, Rodney felt called to heal from a young age. He has spent his career putting people to sleep — and now he wants to help them wake up. "They taught us how to heal others, but neglected to teach us how to heal ourselves," he said. Rodney's nonprofit, Heal Our Healers, aims to remedy this institutional illness. Rodney enjoys studying and lecturing on burnout, compassion fatigue, and PTSD in healthcare providers.
