Keeping emotions in check for the chip with Concordia St. Paul AD Regan McAthie
Regan McAthie is the Athletic Director for Concordia St. Paul. She’s in Sioux Falls where Concordia will compete for the NCAA DII Volleyball title today vs MSU Denver. The team is no stranger to the title stage, with a victory they would secure the program’s ninth championship. Their roster features a ton of Minnesota talent, Regan speaks to the volleyball hotbed we have here in our backyard. Regan played volleyball for Augustana and has family connections to the tournament. She provides her expectations for the title match tonight and kind of team they’re playing against.
The challenge of JJ McCarthy
The full second hour of The Sports Weekend with Steve Thomson. As always during this time of year, Steve and Jonathan Lowe keep you updated on the scores and results from the college football landscape across the nation including a visit with Pat Coleman from D3 Football and Chris Hine from the Star Tribune and Aaron Worm! Plus, Jonathan and Steve’s thoughts on Matt Campbell being hired at Penn State from Iowa State and the Lane Kiffin/LSU saga. Lindsey also shares some old scouting notes on JJ McCarthy from her days covering football in Vegas.
The Wolves are heating up
Chris Hine covers the Minnesota Timberwolves for the Star Tribune. He joins Steve to talk about the Wolves’ win over the Pelicans. They are now winners of four straight. Chris says the team is still trying to find its way defensively and has a lot to emulate in a certain other team down in Oklahoma. They also touch on the Clippers drama with their release of Chris Paul in the middle of the night earlier this week.
