Four MAIS baseball teams across Southwest Mississippi competed for a state championship last week. Only one went all the way — the ASC Rebels were state champs in 4AD2 after taking a rubber match with Leake Aca. On this week's Corner Blitz, we catch up with the champs. One two three four five six seven ocho NINE... This year, we had NINE local high school tennis players win state championships at the MHSAA and MAIS state tournaments. Four from Brookhaven High School — Crews and Annie Stewart, (5A Mixed Doubles); and Addy Foster and Jenna Townsend (5A Girls Doubles). Two from Loyd Star — Cooper Creel and Brody Thinadeaux (Class 1 Boys Doubles). Two from Brookhaven Academy — Camille Calcote and Kyndra Quinn (4A D2 Girls Doubles). And one from Parklane Academy — Anistyn Henderson (4A D2 Girls Singles).
