Celebrating an icon: Defender, 10 years on (feat. Greg King and Ian Arthur)
In this very special episode, Martin and Steve are joined by LRM contributor Greg King and friend of LRM, Ian Arthur from Howden Classic, sponsor of our Autojumble and LRM Live events. In a look back at how the Land Rover scene has changed since the mighty L316 Defender went out of production 10 years ago, ex-employee of Land Rover, Greg King imparts some touching moments from the final day of the factory, and Steve Miller shares his thoughts on how the day played out ten years on. Ian Arthur explains how his Defender 110 Station Wagon is an irreplaceable part of his family, and how it recently escaped the salvage yard after using a Mercedes as a crumple zone. The guys also share what Defenders mean to them, how they first came into real contact with this iconic model all those years ago and how they've become ingrained in their lives to this day. The movement of Defenders from an off-road toy or workhorse has changed how the Land Rover scene looks for ever. But the future looks bright!
