Two libraries are set up here in the Vale of Glamorgan, one in Penarth and one in Barry both under Benthyg - which has a vision of creating a wales-wide network of libraries. We’ll hear from Amy Greenfield, who runs Barry Benthyg about the benefits of borrowing. Bro Radio's Vale this Week - 29th March 2023

On this weeks edition of the Vale This Week from Bro Radio, We’ll hear from Sacha Stoyle, a resident in Llantwit Major, who is urging people to know the symptoms for bowel cancer. It comes as new research reveals around four in ten people don’t know any signs of a so-called red flag and the levels of awareness are even worse in deprived areas of the UK. On Thursday, the Vale of Glamorgan Council is holding an unpaid careers event to highlight the support available to the Counties carers. We’ll hear from one local carer who says the support she received helped her and her family massively when her husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Llantwit Major came together as a community on Saturday to 'peacefully' protest against a far-right group who opposed plans to build temporary housing for Ukrainian refugees, at the former Eagleswell School site. Our reporters Ellie Spark and Kate Bryony spoke to those attending and residents in East Aberthaw are hopeful that a new roll-out of 20mph speed limits across Wales will help reduce speeds in the Village, our reporter Ben Jones has been out to speak to locals and councillors. Plus we’ll get our usual round-up of the week's local news, including looking at Newport City Councils freeport bid, which had impacts on the Vale of Glamorgan, plus the week's local events and a triumph bounce back to the Cymru Premier for Barry Town United.
