Beskrivelse

In Episode #40, we offer some teacher quick takes on that universal part of everyone’s school experience: lunch in the cafeteria. Ms. Compton, Mr. Rose and your host spent some time in the studio reminiscing over our own histories with school cafeterias of our pasts, and then we recently spent a lunch period gathered at one of round tables in the Borah Cafeteria, paid our 5 dollars and 10 cents, gobbled down our crispy chicken salads, and contemplated meal time at this school. and you’ll get to hear all about those experiences. You’ll also hear Mr. Rose’s Prep Period Cold Call with Borah’s Food Service Manager, Mrs. Chipman, who offers some fascinating insights on the daily routine of feeding Borah’s students. You’ll also find out that once all the kids are gone and tables wiped off, Borah’s cafeteria becomes a cool venue for other events here at the school Thanks for listening! These are Borah Voices!

#39 -- 4.3.26-- “Book Nerds.....Assemble!"

How many books have you read in the last year? Go ahead—pick a number and hold onto it. Now, press play on this episode of the Borah Pridecast and meet a group of students who are driven readers and rabid competitors. For the past four years, Borah High School’s Idaho Battle of the Books team—affectionately known as the Big Friendly Slugs—has taken on the challenge of reading a dozen carefully selected books each year in preparation for fierce literary competition. But this isn’t just about numbers or titles. It’s about curiosity, camaraderie, and the kind of dedication that turns reading into a shared adventure. Kristen, Ella, Abby, Conlin, and Camden are more than competitors—they’re a reminder of what it looks like to be fully engaged, joyfully intellectual, and unapologetically themselves. They’re sharp, quick-witted, occasionally goofy, and deeply committed to their reading and each other. Listening to them, you’ll hear not just their insights on books, but their perspectives on teamwork, growth, and what it means to care deeply about something in a distracted world. There’s something quietly inspiring about this team. Maybe it’s their enthusiasm, or maybe it’s the hope they represent—a glimpse into a future shaped by thoughtful, driven young people who still believe in the power of language, of ideas, of stories. This is a feel-good conversation and these are Borah voices.
