Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2093758/fan_mail/new] In this episode, I reconnect with Karen Hall, known as the Queen of Empathy, nearly three years after we first met at Podcast Movement Evolutions in Los Angeles. Ms. Hall is an emotional intelligence leadership coach, podcaster, speaker, author, editor, publicist, event producer, and advocate for helping people recognize the hero within themselves. We discuss empathy, connection, courage, leadership, faith, parenting, public speaking, emotional awareness, and the quiet ways ordinary people become heroes. Ms. Hall shares how her podcast, The Hero Within, grew out of her desire to help people feel less alone. After experiencing rejection, loneliness, misunderstanding, and family estrangement, she realized that people do not need identical experiences in order to relate emotionally. We explore the difference between labels and feelings, why empathy does not require shared circumstances, and how people sometimes use “I can’t relate” as an excuse to avoid discomfort or responsibility. We also discuss Ms. Hall’s personal story, including being born two and a half months premature, surviving despite severe medical concerns, growing up with anxiety, overcoming a fear of public speaking, and learning to turn sensitivity into strength. She explains how being a highly sensitive person and an empath shaped her parenting, coaching, leadership, and spiritual life. I also share my thoughts on helping children identify emotions, asking why before punishing, and creating an environment where people feel safe enough to communicate honestly. Later, we explore emotional intelligence in leadership and why psychological safety, trust, and empathy directly affect engagement, creativity, productivity, loyalty, and profitability. Ms. Hall explains that leadership is not merely about authority or title; it is about whether people feel safe, heard, and valued. We also discuss her work with the Los Angeles Tribune, the Global Women’s Journal, international events, Latina women, authors, speakers, and leaders who want to use their stories to serve others. https://karenhallcoaching.com/ Website: https://coupleonukes.com [https://coupleonukes.com/] Exodus, Honor Your Heart, & Nulu Knives: https://www.coupleonukes.com/affiliates/ [https://www.coupleonukes.com/affiliates/] Want to be a guest on Couple O' Nukes? episode Before Godzilla, There Was Leviathan: Why The Bible's Sea Monster Still Matters cover

Before Godzilla, There Was Leviathan: Why The Bible's Sea Monster Still Matters

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2093758/fan_mail/new] In this Solo Scripture Samurai Arc sermon, I reflect on my journey to Awaji Island, Japan, where I experienced the Godzilla Interception Operation during a typhoon. Standing beneath the towering figure of Shin Godzilla made me think about humanity’s fascination with kaiju, sea monsters, and seemingly unstoppable forces—and ultimately led me back to the biblical account of Leviathan.  I explore what Scripture says about Leviathan through Genesis, Job, Psalms, Isaiah, and Jeremiah. Rather than claiming that Godzilla is Leviathan or settling every debate about whether Leviathan was literal, symbolic, or something else, I focus on the central message of these passages: a creature no human being could hope to control still belongs completely to God. The One who formed the seas, established their boundaries, and created Leviathan, which possesses power beyond anything humanity can manufacture or imagine.  Leviathan also gives us a powerful way to understand the overwhelming problems we face. Financial hardship, damaged relationships, mental-health struggles, uncertain opportunities, and other crises can tower over us like kaiju. Some battles are beyond our ability to conquer alone—but they are never beyond God’s authority.  This sermon is an invitation to stop measuring your problems against your own strength and start measuring them against the power of Yahweh. When the Leviathan in your life appears unbeatable, remember that God has already demonstrated His authority over every force beneath heaven. Your monster may be greater than you, but it is not greater than your Creator.  Website: https://coupleonukes.com [https://coupleonukes.com/] Exodus, Honor Your Heart, & Nulu Knives: https://www.coupleonukes.com/affiliates/ [https://www.coupleonukes.com/affiliates/] Want to be a guest on Couple O' Nukes? Living With Chronic Illness: Pain, Identity, Burnout, And Finding Meaning

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2093758/fan_mail/new] In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Jeffery Bone, a chronic illness coach, mental health professional, podcaster, and author who has spent more than two decades working in the chronic illness and chronic pain space. Mr. Bone’s expertise became deeply personal when he developed a chronic illness of his own, forcing him to confront the physical pain, mental exhaustion, medical uncertainty, identity loss, and emotional grief that many patients experience behind closed doors. We discuss Mr. Bone’s path from studying psychology to working one-on-one with people living through chronic pain and illness. He shares how his own health crisis began with a persistent headache and rapidly developed into fatigue, tremors, bladder pain, neurological symptoms, insomnia, brain fog, and widespread inflammation. After seeing numerous specialists without receiving a clear answer, he eventually learned that toxic mold exposure, mycotoxins, immune dysfunction, and common variable immune deficiency were major parts of his condition. This conversation examines the importance of becoming your own health advocate, seeking additional opinions, and recognizing that the human body cannot always be understood by examining one symptom or organ at a time. Mr. Bone explains how functional medicine, toxicology, immunology, genetic testing, cortisol testing, and other approaches helped reveal issues that traditional medical appointments had missed. We also discuss medical arrogance, the harm caused when symptoms are dismissed, and why a doctor saying “I don’t know” can be more valuable than offering an unsupported diagnosis. Later, we explore the mental and emotional realities of chronic illness, including grief for the former self, medical burnout, isolation, anxiety, shame, changing relationships, and the feeling that life is steadily shrinking. Mr. Bone shares how creativity, curiosity, podcasting, poetry, writing, and assigning new meaning to his pain helped him build an expanded life instead of spending every day trying to return to who he was before becoming ill. We also discuss his podcast, To The Bone: Conversations on Pain, Illness, and Meaning, along with books including Broken Bone, Carved Out of Bone, Mold Brain, Chemical Undertow, The Restless Human, The Restless Waiting Room, The Absurd Body, and The Expanded Life. https://www.drbone.live/ Website: https://coupleonukes.com [https://coupleonukes.com/] Exodus, Honor Your Heart, & Nulu Knives: https://www.coupleonukes.com/affiliates/ [https://www.coupleonukes.com/affiliates/] Want to be a guest on Couple O' Nukes? episode We Are All Here: Suicide Prevention, Human Trafficking, & Grace In Acts 16 cover

We Are All Here: Suicide Prevention, Human Trafficking, & Grace In Acts 16

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2093758/fan_mail/new] In this solo Radiating Faith sermon, I explore Acts 16 and the powerful connections between spiritual discernment, human exploitation, worship during suffering, forgiveness, and suicide prevention. I examine how Paul and Silas remained faithful through opposition, physical abuse, imprisonment, and uncertainty—and how their response influenced everyone listening around them. I begin with the enslaved young woman whose spiritual condition was being exploited for financial gain. Although the spirit within her spoke words that sounded truthful, Paul refused to accept endorsement from an evil source. Her owners responded with anger when their ability to profit from her disappeared. I connect this biblical account to modern human trafficking, sexual exploitation, coercive relationships, and the difficult reality that rescuing people often threatens those who benefit from their captivity. I then examine Paul and Silas worshiping while imprisoned. Scripture specifically tells us that the other prisoners were listening, reminding us that people observe how we respond when our faith becomes costly. Worship is not merely something we practice after deliverance. It can become an act of leadership, testimony, and spiritual resistance while we are still wounded, confined, and waiting for circumstances to change. Finally, I focus on the Philippian jailer, who prepared to take his own life because he believed he had failed and could not survive the resulting shame. Paul intervened with the words, “We are all here.” I discuss why suicide prevention is connected to forgiveness, grace, accountability, and the preservation of life—even when the person in danger has harmed us. Acts 16 ultimately demonstrates that shame does not have to end in death, suffering does not silence worship, and one act of mercy can transform an individual, a household, and everyone watching. How AI & Phone Calls Are Helping Save Lives At Addiction Treatment Centers

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2093758/fan_mail/new] In this episode, I sit down with Dave Sichel, a man in long-term recovery, founder of Blueshirt Media, and someone using AI to help addiction treatment centers reach more people during one of the most critical moments of their lives. Mr. Sichel shares how his own experience with addiction, relapse, treatment, and recovery shaped his mission to help the still-suffering addict. This conversation begins with a serious question: what happens when someone finally calls for help, but no one answers? Mr. Sichel explains that for many people struggling with addiction, the decision to seek help may come during a short and fragile “moment of clarity.” If that moment is missed because a treatment center sends the caller to voicemail, leaves them on hold too long, or lacks overnight staffing, the person may never make that call again. We talk about why this can become a life-or-death issue, especially for people battling drugs, alcohol, relapse cycles, shame, isolation, and hopelessness. We also explore Mr. Sichel’s personal recovery story, including getting clean as a teenager, staying sober for 17 years, relapsing after convincing himself marijuana would not be a problem, finding recovery again, relapsing again, and now living more than 12 years clean. Mr. Sichel speaks honestly about the way addiction can rationalize relapse, how dangerous isolation can be for an addict, and why community, meetings, service, and giving back continue to be central parts of his recovery. A major part of this episode focuses on Blueshirt Media and how Mr. Sichel is helping addiction treatment centers use AI as a compassionate support tool, not as a replacement for admissions teams. We discuss AI phone answering, lead re-engagement, text message follow-up, overnight support, long hold times, dropped calls, and the importance of meeting people where they actually communicate. Mr. Sichel also explains how text messaging can reach people who may not answer a phone call, especially if they are around family or afraid to be exposed.
