Chronic Pain Warrior: A Young Man's Life Completely Altered By A Single Injury

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2093758/fan_mail/new] Today, I sit down with Davis Bain, the author of Chronic Pain Warrior, to discuss his life-changing journey through post-concussion syndrome, chronic pain, faith, and rebuilding after loss. Mr. Bain shares how one unexpected hit to the head during Air Force ROTC physical training changed the course of his future, ending his expected path toward a Space Force commission and forcing him to confront a new reality of brain fog, migraines, light sensitivity, depression, and daily physical limitations. In this episode, Mr. Bain explains what it is like to live with post-concussion syndrome after a traumatic brain injury, including the frustration of being told by doctors to “give it more time” while his symptoms continued to worsen. We discuss the grief of losing a planned career, the isolation that can come with chronic illness, and the mental health challenges that many people face when their body no longer allows them to live the life they once expected. Mr. Bain also shares how his Christian faith was challenged by suffering, especially when well-meaning people offered poor theology around healing, pain, and God’s purpose. He talks about reading Scripture from Genesis to Revelation, wrestling with the sovereignty of God, and learning that God can use suffering without abandoning the person who suffers. Together, we discuss why the church must become better at weeping with those who weep instead of rushing to fix, correct, or minimize their pain. We also highlight Mr. Bain’s book, Chronic Pain Warrior, which is written for people living with chronic pain, traumatic brain injuries, mental health struggles, and the friends and family members who want to support them well. https://www.chronicpainwarrior.com/ Website: https://coupleonukes.com [https://coupleonukes.com/] Exodus, Honor Your Heart, & Nulu Knives: https://www.coupleonukes.com/affiliates/ [https://www.coupleonukes.com/affiliates/] Want to be a guest on Couple O' Nukes? Old Ranger, New Dad: Faith, Combat, Security, IVF, & Fatherhood

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2093758/fan_mail/new] Today, I sit down again with Seth Ryan, a Marine Corps veteran, former Army Ranger, law enforcement professional, private security contractor, podcast host, husband, and father. Mr. Ryan shares how his life has shifted since our previous conversation, including his rebrand into Old Ranger, New Dad, his focus on mentoring young men, and his continuing passion for school safety, security awareness, and crime prevention through environmental design.  In this episode, Mr. Ryan discusses his background in the Marine Corps, the 75th Ranger Regiment, law enforcement, private contracting, and serving in Baghdad during the COVID-era lockdowns. We also talk about his previous School to Embassy Project, why conversations about school shootings and security can be difficult to host online, and how censorship, demonetization, and algorithm suppression can affect creators who are trying to discuss prevention, safety, and public protection.  Mr. Ryan also opens up about fatherhood, IVF, his wife Malyri Ryan’s medical emergency, the loss of embryos, and their ongoing journey toward growing their family through a gestational carrier. We discuss how becoming a father later in life has shaped his perspective, how faith has helped him and Mrs. Ryan endure hardship, and why marriage, parenting, and purpose require more than personal strength alone.  Throughout the conversation, I also share my perspective on podcasting, rebranding, faith, young men, masculinity, discipline, relationships, public education, and the importance of surrounding yourself with people who are actually trying to grow. Veteran & Podcaster Louis Famiglietti On Serving 21 Years, Surviving Cancer, & Navigating Relationships

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2093758/fan_mail/new] Today, I sit down with Louis Famiglietti, a retired Air Force veteran, podcaster, cancer survivor, and former aircraft weapons systems specialist. Mr. Famiglietti shares why he joined the Air Force after realizing college was not the right path for him, how a recruiter’s F-16 display pulled him toward aircraft work, and what led him into a 21-year military career built around aviation, weapons systems, and service. In this episode, Mr. Famiglietti walks through assignments in Okinawa, Missouri, Germany, Korea, Las Vegas, and beyond. We discuss military culture, drinking culture, station life, leadership, divorce, fatherhood, long-distance parenting, and the challenge of building a meaningful life while serving in demanding military environments. I also bring in my own perspective from the Navy, nuclear training pipeline, Japan, command climate, recruiting experiences, and the way service members often miss the deeper cultural opportunities around them because they get trapped in the drinking-and-partying cycle. Mr. Famiglietti also shares the difficult ending of his Air Force career, including the loss of a close friend, intense leadership pressure, medical struggles, and being diagnosed with stage II colon cancer while stationed in Korea. He explains how cancer, recovery, and retirement reshaped his future, eventually leading him into civilian aerospace work with Pratt & Whitney before realizing that financial success alone was not enough to fulfill his next mission. We also talk about Military Creator Con, podcasting, entrepreneurship, distilleries, whiskey, masculinity, fatherhood, and the importance of using media to help people instead of simply chasing numbers. Mr. Famiglietti’s next chapter centers on storytelling, American spirits, veteran connection, and finding purpose after military service, making this episode a powerful conversation for veterans, military families, podcasters, entrepreneurs, and anyone rebuilding after hardship. https://www.linkedin.com/in/louiswfamiglietti/?lipi=urn%3Ali%3Apage%3Ad_flagship3_profile_view_base_contact_details%3BzAyWbnykSFeXJFvFbpd40w%3D%3D Website: https://coupleonukes.com [https://coupleonukes.com/] Exodus, Honor Your Heart, & Nulu Knives: https://www.coupleonukes.com/affiliates/ [https://www.coupleonukes.com/affiliates/] Want to be a guest on Couple O' Nukes? Answering The Hard Questions: Army Vet On Poverty, Blackmail, & Suicidal Ideation

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2093758/fan_mail/new] Today, I sit down with Devin Fish, an Army veteran and author of Answering The Hard Questions: Let It Be The End Of The Chapter, Not The End Of The Book. Mr. Fish shares his journey from growing up in poverty in Rockford, Illinois, moving repeatedly throughout childhood, and dealing with instability, family addiction, bullying, isolation, and rejection before joining the military. In this episode, Mr. Fish walks through the painful experiences that shaped his early life, including his father’s drug and alcohol-related breakdown, his mother’s addiction struggles, and the devastating moment he had to face her death shortly after entering his first Army assignment. We also discuss how unresolved trauma, loneliness, and self-hatred can push people into dangerous cycles, including dating app addiction, blackmail, scams, sexual shame, and suicidal ideation. Mr. Fish also explains how seeking help through military counseling and hospitalization became a turning point in his life. We discuss the importance of mindset, resilience, suicide prevention, and how a person’s darkest chapter does not have to become the end of their story. His path eventually led him to become an Army career counselor, turn his pain into a presentation for soldiers, and later transform that message into a published book. https://a.co/d/028ZBmgD Website: https://coupleonukes.com [https://coupleonukes.com/] Exodus, Honor Your Heart, & Nulu Knives: https://www.coupleonukes.com/affiliates/ [https://www.coupleonukes.com/affiliates/] Want to be a guest on Couple O' Nukes? Jason Cavness: From Army Officer To Tech Connector & Long-Form Podcaster

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2093758/fan_mail/new] Today, I sit down with Jason Cavness, a retired U.S. Army officer, entrepreneur, speaker, and host of The Jason Cavness Experience. Mr. Cavness shares his journey from enlisting in the Army to becoming an officer, building a long military career, and eventually moving into entrepreneurship, podcasting, tech startups, deep tech, AI, robotics, and international business connections. In this episode, Mr. Cavness and I discuss military leadership, command climate, retention, toxic leadership, family sacrifice, and the reality of maintaining identity while serving for decades. Mr. Cavness shares stories from his time stationed around the world, including Germany, Italy, Korea, and Vietnam, while also explaining what good leadership looks like when leaders truly care about their people. We also dive into podcasting, long-form conversations, creator growth, social media, monetization, and why deeper interviews can reveal more humanity than short-form content alone. Mr. Cavness explains how his podcast evolved over time, what he has learned from interviewing people across industries, and why in-person podcasting has become a major part of his brand. This conversation also explores the changing future of technology, including AI, robotics, software development, Vietnam’s growing tech scene, and the importance of adapting instead of fearing innovation. Mr. Cavness closes with a powerful reminder about self-limiting beliefs, starting before you feel ready, meeting new people, traveling, trying new things, and choosing to believe in yourself even when doubt tries to take over.  Along the way, we also get into some K-Pop, bourbon, wine, and whiskey! https://www.linkedin.com/in/jasoncavness/ Website: https://coupleonukes.com [https://coupleonukes.com/] Exodus, Honor Your Heart, & Nulu Knives: https://www.coupleonukes.com/affiliates/ [https://www.coupleonukes.com/affiliates/] Want to be a guest on Couple O' Nukes? Liker at det er både Podcaster (godt utvalg) og lydbøker i samme app, pluss at man kan holde Podcaster og lydbøker atskilt i biblioteket.
